Object: aa - Quote of the Month winners!
Here are the winners for September 2003.
AQOTM:
13) Christians think they are being humble when they kneel, or more
precisely, they think they are humbling themselves. What that betrays is
that they have such an overinflated sense of their own size and
importance that they feel they have to be gracious, and volunteer to
shorten their height so as not to encroach too much on the stature of
their universe-dwarfing God. If they had any true sense of their
smallness on the cosmic scale, they would know how laughable,
ridiculous, and comically arrogant that is.
By: Kronk
Nominated: Mike Smith
Seconded: Denis Loubet
A winner in a very tight race. Two other quotes got 6 votes each.
Anyway, congratulations to Kronk, our winner this month!
TQOTM:
2) God is so great He designed your brain to function even when you
make yourself look stupid.
By: Eagle29
Nominated: Dr. Smartass
Seconded: Levy Oates
With 13 votes, a clear winner. Or Weiner. Take your pick.
Congratulations, Eagle.

Sorry about the confusion here. A set of votes arrived on my server late
today, but they were marked as of Sept 30, so i decided I had to count
them.
We now have a tie - Kronk is still top vote-getter with 8 votes, but he
is now joined by this quote:
17) Sorry fishboy, but you've already proven your evil agenda with your
rhetoric about magical talking end-of-the-world fish. You don't want an
enlightened populace but a fearful one that fears a demon haunted world
that could end any minute. Only problem is that the demons and monsters
have been scared away by science and are now only living under the beds
of the fearful. And those fearful want to elevate their position not by
losing their own fear but by trying to make everyone else as fearful as
they are.

And that, my fishy friend, is evil.
By: John Hattan
Nominated: Elroy Willis
Seconded: Mark K. Bilbo
Congraulations to John for his equally popular statement.
Again, my apologies for the confusion...

Aww *****, now I'm Dubya --screwing up what appears to be a clear
election win. There's probably a vote for me on a hanging chad somewhere
that'll really screw things up royally.

Yes, congratulations indeed, John. Sorry about the mess up here on
the podium. I thought it would be fun to have a picnic. Hang on a
sec and I'll clear off your half.

Aww *****, now I'm Dubya --screwing up what appears to be a clear

It's still clear. It's just different now. At least we had someone
ten orders of magnitude more trustworthy than Harris to count the
votes. If she had done the count, we probably would have had a
surprise win for Duke, Bloaty, or such.
(Heh, one more up here and we would have had as many winners on the A
side as there were nominations on the T side.)

A winner in a very tight race. Two other quotes got 6 votes each.
Anyway, congratulations to Kronk, our winner this month!

Great zots! How did I miss this? Get a little distracted and you can
miss a lot around here.
Thanks, Mike and Denis, for putting me in, and thanks to all who voted
their appreciation. It's a great feeling to know my keyboard peckings
are enjoyed by others. Special commendation to Quotemeister Nemo for
his work and vigilance in conducting the QOTM events, and
congratulations also to the others who scored well. There were a
number of outstanding quotes in this round, and it was an honor to be
included among you.
