Greetings, salutations, and . . . All associated *****. :)
After putting this off for *WAY* too long, I've finally decided to try
posting on this Newsgroup. While I'm not very familiar with Usenet,
nor posting to Newsgroups via Agent, I'm VERY well versed on the
goings-on of alt.atheism. And, well, I really aspire to earning a
BAAWA Knighthood one day . . . :)
I'm 17 (18 in September!) and I've been an atheist my *entire* life --
from implicit at birth, weak throughout childhood (even when my
grandpa dragged me through churches and Sunday Schools <spit> ), and
finally filling out into a fully-fledged, strong explicit atheist as
of . . . Well, I've forgotten when that last shift took place. :)
I have nothing but seething contempt for religion of almost any breed
-- although, particularly the judeo-christer myths. And of course the
*really* stupid-collapsed-in-on-itself religions, such as mormonism
and scientology -- although they're kind of a given. :)
As far as political philosophies go, I draw on Objectivism a lot --
although I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm an "Objectivist" per se.
I'm extremely pro-choice, and loathe oppression or bigotry of any sort
-- whether homophobia, racism, misogyny, or whatever.
My most notable and amusing achievements as an atheist so far have
been: The second time I ever spoke to my dad, -- at the age of 7 -- I
asked him if he believed in god. To which he responded by asking me
what I believe. My answer, and I quote, was "well, how did this big
***** in the sky make everything and where did this big ***** in
the sky come from" (or something along those lines). :)
And again, for my first-term school report-card, one of my teachers
asked for my class to write down any extra-curricular activities in
which we've participated -- so they can be printed alongside our
grades . . .
My report-card read something along the lines of: "[...] is an active
member of the EAC, and takes part in all EAC activities."
Of course, I was the only one that understood what it meant, but it
still cracks me up. :)

Belief is a lie, otherwise you wouldn't have to believe.
I'm not a theist, because the first thing you have to do is lie to
yourself that you know there is a god. I don't know that, and until
some god is big enough and honest enough to actually come my way and
show himself to be real, that's the way it stays.
