aa: The Bible as a Legal Textbook |
Why stop at the ten commandments?
Here are some other "religious legal principles" which
Christians must also presumably think are suitable for
the courtroom- they're from the bible too, after all.

Balance of probability? Of course not- if two people
don't like you, watch out:
"On the testimony of two or three witnesses a
man shall be put to death, but no one shall be
put to death on the testimony of only one
witness."
--Deuteronomy 17:6
Due process? God, no. Just let a priest "interpret" the
meaning of a thunderstorm, or something.
"If cases come before your courts that are too
difficult for you to judge-whether bloodshed,
lawsuits or assaults-take them to the place
the LORD your God will choose."
--Deuteronomy 17:8
Equal rights? Bah...
"And I charged your judges at that time: Hear
the disputes between your brothers and judge
fairly, whether the case is between brother
Israelites or between one of them and an alien"
--Deuteronomy 1:16
Appointments on merit? Don't be ridiculous:
"When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons
as judges for Israel."
--Samuel 8:1
