AA:Nym shift for zamboni30000 |
I've posted for years with the name zamboni30000 on alt.atheism. Once
upon a time we had a hockey team. I live in Mobile.AL. They left some
time ago.
Then... I started following the team in Biloxi, MS. Katrina wiped them
out. They might be back next year (yay!) but I don't wanna be zamboni
anymore.
Anyhoo, I haven't thought of a better nym, but I have settled on one.
Let me know what you think my fellow atheists. I have a weird fondness
for latin, though I never studied it. I play poker on full tilt poker
as "n_vino_veritas" as in "in vino veritas"..."in wine there is truth"
I challenge all of you...heh, heh, heh!
www.fulltiltpoker.com
But that isn't it. In this forum I want to go with "mea culpa" as in
it is "my fault", or my responsibility.. What I write is mine, what I
do is mine, what I say is mine...see what I mean? Does it make sense?
If any latinistas have a better suggestion. I wish to convey what I
said above. I want to accept responsibility for what I say and do.
Socially. politically, economically, ecologically, etc...

The old ECHL Mystics...who, if they were still around, would be stuck in the
American South Division with the Texas Wildcatters, these days.

"zamboni_driver", maybe? Better that than be one of the on-ice officials.

I've seen a response to that in the home of Oktoberfest: "...in Bier ist auch

How about "podpis' moy"? (Russian for "my signature".)

Actually, I agree. Once I started trying to change, I realized how
zambonied I was...my email addresses, my paswords...etc. My retina
scan didn't work at the EAC "700 ClubJamming Station Beta" at my local

I hope so, since with them off the ice this season, the Wildcatters' neareast

make the bus trip to and from Beaumont a couple of hours shorter.

We've got one guy on our NHL team (Alex Burrows - Vancouver) who was in
the ECHL a couple of years ago. What's the quality of play like? Is it
a noticable step down from the AHL? He's okay, but he sure has no
offence.

The only ECHL exposure I've had is over in Beaumont, and it's a fraction below
what I've seen of the CHL...but it's entertaining. (I seem to remember Alex
Burrows from a couple of visits of the Moose to Houston, last season, and he
was in a shootout in the 2004-05 season that the Moose won against
Houston...looking through the boxes for those two seasons. Since Manitoba got
put into the other division, Vancouver's prospects only visit Houston twice a
season.)

them out. They might be back next year (yay!) but I don't wanna be
zamboni anymore.
Doesn't Florida still have their team? Aviators or something?
IIRC, Pensacola's got the ***** Pirat--er, Ice Pilots 0;)
Back when there was still a WPHL (before it absorbed the CHL), there was no
love lost between Austin's Ice Bats and the Lake Charles Ice Pirates...and
we saw the ***** Bites a couple of times in Lake Charles. ;-)
I wonder what the audiences are like, here...never been to a game (not a
sports fan, y'know). About all I know is the name of the team :>
In the minor leagues, home crowds tend to get rowdy when their team is doing
well - and if it's a match between rivals, it can get stranger than that,
depending on the rivalry. (Here, we've got the San Antonio Rampage - the
Silver Scum to more than a few Aeros fans - three hours down I-10, but it's
one-sided, seeing that the Aeros have won four of this season's six
head-bangings so far (with another home-and-home coming Friday and Saturday).

In the minor leagues, home crowds tend to get rowdy when their
team is doing well - and if it's a match between rivals, it
can get stranger than that, depending on the rivalry. (Here,
we've got the San Antonio Rampage - the Silver Scum to more
than a few Aeros fans - three hours down I-10, but it's
one-sided, seeing that the Aeros have won four of this
season's six head-bangings so far (with another home-and-home
coming Friday and Saturday).
For all the attention such things get in the News-Urinal here,
it's easy to forget there's a local team of any sort.
Could be worse...in Atlanta, you'd have to deal with the
Urinal-Constipation. (We get to put up with the Comical around
here.)
Then there's the DummyCrap in Tallahassee, where it's all
"Seminoles", all the time. I bought the paper for the comics...I
wonder if they still run "Non Sequitur"?
I avoid the Chronicle, considering it's a Hearst paper...and I'll
stick to the Houston Press and its weekly dose of Red Meat. (I
wouldn't mind if they'd start picking up Partially Clips again,
either.)
The locals here would ***** themselves if the Urinal started running
"Red Meat."
Of course, it'd be an eeeeevul athiest conspiracy.
They actually think "Mallard Fillmore" is funny.
It is...once in a great while. (The last time I can remember one
that _was_ funny was about 1990.)
It'd be realllly funny if the guy that does the strip did a story
about a cartoonist who's been busted twice for DUI; put this into
Google:
Well, _someone_ did.
http://www.shortpacked.com/d/20061218.html
and the next four strips.
Awesome! This guy's my new favorite, just for that.

AUTHORITARIANS ARE PERVERTS. Why?
--They consider themselves shepherds.
--They consider the rest of us sheep.
--Shepherds ***** sheep.
--Therfore AUTHORITARIANS ARE PERVERTS.
