Object: ABORTION I
ABORTION:
Pro-Life Activist Acquitted in Pennsylvania: William S.
Depner, a pro-life activist in McKeesport, Pennsylvania has been
acquitted on harassment charges after taking photographs of underage
girls entering a local Planned Parenthood clinic. The Rutherford
Institute, a private constitutional rights organization, assisted
Depner in his defense. Depner stated that he took the photographs of
the girls to prove that Planned Parenthood was treating girls without
their parents' consent. In a recent press release, Rutherford
Institute president John W. Whitehead stated: "Pro-life activists
continue to face an uphill battle in the courts despite the fact that
they have a First Amendment right to voice their opposition to
abortion. We are pleased with this important victory for William Depner."
In 2003, the Rutherford Institute also came to William Depner's
defense. In that incident, Depner distributed anti-abortion literature
at a bus stop in McKeesport and was arrested for allegedly disturbing
the peace and blocking the sidewalk, but was eventually found innocent
on all charges. The Rutherford Institute filed a lawsuit on behalf of
Depner claiming that his First and Fourteenth rights of free speech
and equal protection had been infringed by the city of McKeesport. The
lawsuit has not yet been resolved.

.. . . You can't understand a phrase such as "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion" by syllogistic reasoning. Words
take their meaning from social as well as textual contexts, which is why "a
page of history is worth a volume of logic." New York Trust Co. v. Eisner,

The Rutherford inst is funded by a loony rightwing billionaire
The same one who shot pumpkins trying to prove Vince Foster was
murdered
The same one who funded the American Spectator's false story about
Paula Jones
The same one who funneled millions into Larry "mother-suer" Klayman at
"Judicial Twatch"
The same one who funded the law suits trying to force clinton to
resign
The same one who funded the takeover of congress in 94
The same one who funded the politicians who subverted the constitution
and used impeachment to try and oust clinton
Calling it(self) a "private constitutional rights" organization is
rather disengenuous.
