Abortion is Morally Wrong Most of the Time, Americans Say in New Poll
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new poll finds a large majority of
Americans believe that abortion is "morally wrong" most of the time. The
poll also found that Americans say it is too easy for women to obtain
abortions and that most Americans know someone who has had an abortion.
A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 55% of Americans believe abortion is
morally wrong most of the time. Just 32% disagree and the poll found that
Americans under 50 were more likely to say abortion is morally wrong than
older survey participants.
The results are consistent with other surveys showing most Americans oppose
most abortions.
A January CBS News poll found 55 percent of Americans took a pro-life
position on abortion opposing all or most abortions while just 42 percent
supported legalized abortion through part or all of a woman's pregnancy.
Recent Gallup and Wirthlin Worldwide polls have found similar margins in
opposition to abortion.
The new Rasmussen survey also found 61 percent of Americans say they know
someone who has an abortion while just 32 percent do not.
Of those who know someone who's had an abortion, the same 55 percent say
abortion is morally wrong most of the time.
The Rasmussen Reports survey found that 47% of Americans believe it is too
easy for a woman to get an abortion in the United States. Twenty-one percent
(21%) say it is too hard, while 21% say the balance is about right.
Among those who believe abortion is morally wrong most of the time, 74%
believe it is too easy for a woman to get an abortion. Meanwhile, of those
who say abortion is morally acceptable 49% believe it is too hard for a
woman to get an abortion.
The new Rasmussen poll results come form a telephone survey of 1,000 adults
conducted by March 1-2, 2006. The margin of sampling error for the survey is
+/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

It is quite hard to be a consultant surgeon.
The easy way in is to specialise as an abortionist. You are doing mainly
uncomplicated operations on healthy women. It is a lot simpler to kill
things than to cure things. But is is still surgery.
