ACK! Heard on the radio this morning |
While I was driving to work this morning, I heard on the radio that there's a
terrible drought in Saudia Arabia and a muslim cleric has apparently discovered
the reason behind this event - Women. Specifically women who don't wear veils
and consort with men.
Can you believe this crap? Welcome to the "dark ages". Arrrgh ;p

Hey...women going topless on the beaches were claimed as one reason for the
Bali bombing...nothing would surprise me about Islamic countries.

Make a lot of sense. God makes a human faces capable of communicating
expressions and then wants them hidden. Is he ashamed of his own
handiwork? Is the veil to his HIS embarrassment? And if consorting
with men is not allowed would God prefer women to consort with each
other? Is two veiled women consorting with each other God's idea of
fun?

Yes, it is. I worked with a doc who had done some time over there and he
said some of the cancers seen on women once the agony drives them to a
doctor is unbelievable.
The subservient position of fundamental women here is bad, one guy said that
he followed the bible and did not allow his wife to ask questions in church.
He gave her the answers at home.
The position of women in many Islamic countries is evil.

Well, it's actually a lot worse than creationism because creationism
in and of itself does not posit that a certain class of human beings
are inferior just for being who they are (and presumably who god made
them to be).

Well, it's actually a lot worse than creationism because creationism
in and of itself does not posit that a certain class of human beings
are inferior just for being who they are (and presumably who god made
them to be).
Actually that's exactly what creationism means. Isn't Eve (and by
extension, all women) the "reason" for all our misery?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/gender/story/0,11812,1123545,00.html
And in fact:
"There is nothing in the Koran about the veiling of all women or their
confinement in harems. This practice came into Islam some three or
four generations after the Prophet, under the influence of the Greek
Christians
of Byzantium, who had long covered and secluded their women in this
way"
Oh. Um.
Oops!
Must be one of them heretics.
Next he'll be telling us that the Hebrews adopted circumcision from the
Egyptians.
What?
Oh, really?
Never mind.

The Story of the Fall is not a tenet of Creationism *in and of itself*
since creationism is concerned solely with who made what when and how.
Creationism is then used to come up with other doctrines, such as the
Fall and Original Sin.

Be that as it may, women are subjugated in many Muslim countries today
in the name of Islam.

As a former fundy and ex-creationist, I'd like to point out that
*without* the story of Eve eating the apple (okay, fruit, not
specifically an apple), creationism has no meaning or purpose for the
fundy. It's about the Fall of Man. If you do away with Eve eating
the apple, then creationism, even to the creationist, is an exercise
in pointlessness.

Creationism per se is a separate doctrine which is used as the
foundation for other doctrines. A literal 6 day creation is not
needed for the the Fall of Man. Otherwise, the RCC and day-age
creationists would have dropped the doctrines of the Fall and Original
Sin.

While I was driving to work this morning, I heard on the radio that
there's a terrible drought in Saudia Arabia and a muslim cleric has
apparently discovered the reason behind this event - Women.
Specifically women who don't wear veils and consort with men.
Can you believe this crap? Welcome to the "dark ages". Arrrgh ;p
So what's the correlation between women, the veils and the water supply? :)
It's amazing that people can actually use something so sophisticated as the
human brain to come up with such utter rubbish. What a sad waste!
