A.C.L.U. May Block Criticism by Its Board |
The sheer audacity of these hypocrites! For those who follow the doings of
this once-proud organization, accusations of suppressing free speech are not
a suprise. After all, it goes against everything the ACLU once stood for.

The American Civil Liberties Union is weighing new standards that would
discourage its board members from publicly criticizing the organization's
policies and internal administration.
"Where an individual director disagrees with a board position on matters of
civil liberties policy, the director should refrain from publicly
highlighting the fact of such disagreement," the committee that compiled the
standards wrote in its proposals.
"Directors should remember that there is always a material prospect that
public airing of the disagreement will affect the A.C.L.U. adversely in
terms of public support and fund-raising," the proposals state.
Given the organization's longtime commitment to defending free speech, some
former board members were shocked by the proposals.

you continue to demonstrate your ignorance of usenet newsgroups,
scumball, and your disrespect for readers' ability to decide for
themselves what is and is not appropriate.
do you feel like a hypocrite criticizing others for doing what you
do? even osprey has legitimately commented on your hypocrisy.
your hypocrisy aside, what you might want to do to make yourself feel
like an even bigger ***** is take a random sample of posts you've
whined about and then search google for the number of posts with this
topic, demonstrating that readers know what is of interest to them
far better than you do.

Ah!, "If", the longest word in the English language. For now, you'll have to
settle for being just another Usenet tough-guy.

1. Young is not right often but is 100% on target re. ADL hypocrisy.
2. It is immature to talk about beating people up, esp. here.
Whover womps who----------the ADL is still gonna be a bunch of
businessmen with no scruples.
Hey, that sounds familiar-----------well, it is the American way.

Actually if you read the piece they are allowed to air public policy
agreements, but are asked to refrain from personal attacks on staff
and board members in public. I would guess that seeking to bar ad
hominem to in house discussions displeases the usenet crowd, but it's
a civilized way to run an organization.
