Aditi, your goddess for this day |
Aditi "free from bonds" "the unfettered" "Limitless" "she of the self
fertile womb"
Hindu
She was & is the goddess of the boundless sky. According to hints in the
Vedas, She once was all encompassing. She undoubtedly pre-dates the Vedas.
Among her past claims to fame are:
the goddess of the past and the future
the seven dimensions of the cosmos
the celestial light which permeates all things
as well as the consciousness of all living things
As things got crowded on the Earth, she became known for her children.
Originally six, & then they were upgraded to twelve. Known as the Aditya,
they are likely the source for the Persian Mirtha[s], the one christians
don't like to admit pre-dates their saviour. As well as being associated
with the zodiac, the Aditya have responsibilities unique to themselves.
She was claimed as the consort of Kasyapa [Brahma], but as time went by,
she too got her walking papers & was demoted to a guardian goddess, one who
helped her followers follow a smooth path to whatever it was they were
seeking.
