Afraid to Discuss Evolution
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/04/opinion/4fri4.html
The tendency of many school districts to duck controversy by
avoiding
the teaching of evolution serves students and the nation poorly.
Understatement!
That is the PRINCIPAL goal of the Fundies
No Evolution = No Bible-Doubt
Next step is not teaching Astronomy, Geology of Physics.

To the Editor:
Re "Afraid to Discuss Evolution" (editorial, Feb. 4):
Not teaching evolution affects more than just the biological
sciences.
Paleontology, a joint science of biology and geology, cannot be
properly understood without evolution, nor can pure geology, or
carbon
14 dating, a technique used by geology, anthropology, and
archaeology.
Any student interested in any affected disciplines and not exposed to
evolution would arrive at the next-level class educationally
crippled.
