Hamish McRae: African nations have more to learn from China and India
than the West
http://news.independent.co.uk/business/comment/story.jsp?story=604972
27 January 2005
Our Prime Minister is worrying about the environment and our Chancellor
is worrying about Africa.
Now you might, if you were unkind, feel their time were better occupied
worrying about the black hole in the UK public accounts, as highlighted
by the Institute for Fiscal Studies, which suggested there would have
to be a 3p rise in income tax to cover.
Neither the environment nor the economic prospects for Africa are
within the control of our political masters but they can control
taxation and public spending. So you might feel that they ought to be
focusing on what they can do and not what they can't.

Racist Hot 97 skit Mocking Tsunami Victims
http://www.hiphopmusic.com/archives/000759.html
....
excerpts
=======
For the last week Hot 97 has been running a hideously unfunny and
offensive skit named "Tsunami Song," that ridicules the victims of the
Tsunami as "ch*nks" whose children will now be sold into child
slavery.
It's being played on the station's morning show, hosted by Miss
Jones.....
Here are some choice lyrics:
...All at once you could hear the screaming ch*nks and no one was safe
from the wave there were africans drowning, little chinamen swept away
you could hear god laughing, "swim you b*tches swim"
So now you're screwed, it's the Tsunami
you better run or kiss your ***** away, go find your mommy
I just saw her float by, a tree went through her head
and now the children will be sold to child slavery...
Uhh, yeah. Har de har har.
You may know that one of that show's other hosts, Miss Info, is Asian.
She voiced her displeasure with the skit and got into a heated on-air
argument with Miss Jones about it. But so far Hot 97 hasn't
acknowledged that there's anything wrong with it, and they continue to
air it everyday.
As a New Yorker, as a radio person, and as a hip-hop fan I am ashamed
and disgusted that Hot 97 is allowing this to broadcast on their
airwaves. If you feel the same way you can let them know here:
NOTE: If you use the word "tsunami" in your email it will probably get
filtered now, and not read. So try to leave that word out..

Where is it written that all Americans are guilty when a few Americans do

And even if 100% of Americans were serial killers and baby rapers, Johnny
would still be wrong to laugh victims of communist tyranny. The sin of

Been where doing what?
Do you really beleive that FLGers are all politicals refugees? If so,
please write to your representatives to allow them to enter into the
U.S. If you believe with a conviction, then so anything you can to
make it a reality. Will you?
Or do you say things just because it is a "smart" thing to say?
Ask not what other people should do for your sense of right or wrong.
Ask you yourself what you should do or could do.

Sadly, not many. I read about a few extreme cases being treated as
political refugees, but my impression is that it is hard to make such a
base.
Basically Bush's administration is not pro-refugee.
