@e56g2000cwe.googlegroups.com:
Dallas ATC " Iran Air 711, Dallas Tower--You are cleared to land
westbound on runway 9R."
Iran Air: "Thank you Dallas Tower. We are cleared to land on
infidel's
runway 9R. -Allah is Great!!"
Um, there's no such thing as "Westbound on 9R" - that would be 27 and it
would have to be 27L for there to be a possibility of a collision....
Pause: Static.............
VHF comms in modern aircraft are highly unlikely to produce static
noise.
Saudi Air: "DALLAS TOWER! DALLAS TOWER!!!"
Dallas ATC: "Go ahead Saudi Air 914?"
Saudi Air: "YOU HAVE CLEARED BOTH OUR AIRCRAFT FOR THE SAME RUNWAY
GOING
IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS!!! WE ARE ON A COLLISION COURSE!!!
INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE!!!
Actually this would not be accurate. TCAS II (which is required by ICAO
in Jet-Turbine A/C > 5700Kg MTOM) would provide an alert and above
1500ft would provide an automated resolution advisory. This would
overrule the ATC command, the pilots maneuver to avoid collision and
inform ATC of the maneuver.
Dallas ATC: Well Allah be praised and bless your hearts! Y'all be
careful on your journey to meet Allah and be sure to tell him
"hey" for us -- ya hear?
Well, while we're sending religious nuts to their gods, the next
aircraft were USAir and United I take it....
