This group has been largely infected with a mass amnesia bug, about
the use of the prefix "OT".

Alt.atheism doesn't only exist to discuss atheism, but to
discuss topics of interest to atheists. If you don't like a
particular thread, feel free to ignore it.

As this post does not address the topic of guns, it is off-topic for
rec.music.makers.guitar; since most of the political views aren't
conservative, it is off-topic for rec.martial-arts. However...it's about
right for a buncha gawdless athitiests (or whatever the ray-troll is
calling us this week ;) as long as you have your hip-waders patched up.
Carry on!

Since most atheists disaproove of Bush's theocratical tendencies, this
group became part-time devoted to bashing Bush. It's fun and all, and I
hate Bush as much as everybody else, but it's really off-topic.

While I see what you're saying - it's true that Yang initiates a lot of
political posts - he's far from the only one. Nor are the conversations to
emerge from his posts one-sided. IOW, it takes no less than two to tango, and
plenty more than that are dancing politics these days. :-/

Politics and religion are being co-mingled these days, so atheists
who, by nature, must address issues of separation of church and state,
must respond with vigor to anything that would enable a theocracy.

These days to "enable" a theocracy, at least in the U.S., one must simply
maintain the status quo. It's what we've been living in for well over a decade,
it's just not been outright called such.

Yep, maybe more than a decade, as far back as 1954 with under god in
the pledge and in god we trust on the cash.
The political scales are tipped toward the religious, and every time
we try to remove one teeny religious seed from the government they say
we're banning god, and trampling on their rights.

In the most populous of the English-speaking countries whose residents post to this
ng, a prezidinkial election is imminent, under conditions making it the most contentious
such exercise since most posters were born, walking away. Wake up and smell the
freeze-dried: Useneteers do not live in hermetically sealed glass jars; we tend to be
political animals. Many have nowhere else to turn to vent their opinions and/or feelings
on the subject to a somewhat sympathetic peer group. I'm not aware that "Almar" is a
poster whose contributions to the forum are so highly-valued that your displeasure with
the political discussion need be paid much notice. You might have better luck with the
rec. hierarchy.

Unfotunately most of the others I subscribe to are going that way,
with a lot of Limbaugh-wannabes.
