Dear PP,
Why don't you get someone to find you a dictionary and read you the
definition of the word "atheist"?

Dictionary definitions of atheist and atheism are notoriously inaccurate!
Any definition that includes "denies" or "denial" can automatically be
dismissed!

If you want to water the word "religious" down to the point that it is
equivalent to "trust" or "confidence" or such, you render the word
superfluous and we can discard it as unnecessary.
Is that your intent?

Sort of. There's an odd sort of paradox about us - compared to a geometric
point, for instance, _everything_ is infinite. We just aren't infinite compared
to other "infinite things". :-)

Don't your
limitations tell you that you're religious because you put your trust in
something beyond your grasp?

No. "Trusting in something beyond your grasp" is not even part of the
definition of "religion". It's something all must do, else trust nothing. To
say that makes someone religious would be to say that simply _existing_ makes
one "religious". Treating such things as "religious" renders the term into an
utterly useless concept devoid of all meaning. Why would you want to do such a
thing other than to grasp for any old straw you can?

Why isn't there a newsgroup called alt.religion.atheism?

Because atheism isn't a religion?

No. Are you a troll?

Aren't you all finite?

Sort of. There's an odd sort of paradox about us - compared to a
geometric point, for instance, _everything_ is infinite. We just
aren't infinite compared to other "infinite things". :-)

At least I'm *hoping to be finite. You know, diet and all...

Well good luck to you, but - should you fail - don't think of it as
gaining weight. Think of it as a tribute to the cosmos - you're imitating
it with your own localized expansion. ;-)

It's okay, I'm going nearsighted. Have to put the monitor on the other

That would be "far-sighted," not near-sighted. I should know, I have been
near-sighted since I was 12, very near-sighted though it is corrected with
glasses.

I could have sworn I typed farsighted. Seriously.
I'm severely nearsighted. Can't see in focus but maybe six inches from the
front of my nose. But to add insult to injury, in recent years I'm *also
going farsighted. Lovely.
I refuse to get bifocals. Particularly as I wear contacts and bifocal
contacts are... bizarre. I gave in and bought reading glasses instead...

I've lost 60 pounds in the past 6 months, Mark. And, after the first
month, it was easy. (During the first month it took all my will power
to not eat everything I saw, both food and non-food.)
