MICHIGAN AMERICAN ATHEIST DIRECTOR TO DEBATE HAMER
ON "GOD GENE" CONTROVERSY
Michigan State Director, Arlene-Marie, will debate the concept of a "God
Gene" with Dr. Dean Hamer, noted scientist and author of "The God Gene: How
Faith is Hardwired into Our Genes on" Fox 66, Friday, February 4, 2005, at
10:00 PM.
Arlene will argue that Dr. Hamer crossed the line of being scientifically
believable by stating that, "Religious believers can point to the existence
of God genes as one more sign of the Creator's ingenuity." Hamer goes on to
state, "...it was a clever way to help humans acknowledge and embrace a
divine presence."
"Hamer's references to Buddha, Mohammed and Jesus as probably having the god
gene as they had mystical experiences and alterations in consciousness, is
probably the most ridiculous statement Dr. Hamer makes," said Arlene.
Arlene will argue that, "Buddha was a religious philosopher living in India.
Mohammed was an Arabian prophet and founder of the Moslem religion and we
might know something about their behavior. Jesus is another issue, as there
is not one shred of evidence the Jesus existed beyond bible stories. How is
