AMERICAN ATHEISTS TO DEMONSTRATE FOR SEPARATION SUNDAY AT
TEN COMMANDMENTS RALLY IN MONTGOMERY
Alabama AA Director Larry Darby has announced that Atheists and other
state-church separation activists will demonstrate this Sunday,
September 28 in Montgomery, Ala.
This protest takes place as the so-called "Spirit of Montgomery"
caravan nd religious road show in support of government-sponsored
display of the Ten Commandments departs for Washington, DC.
"Atheists will be speaking out against proposed state and federal
legislation that foment government-coerced religion, and against all
instances of 'ceremonial deism,' such as the use of the words 'under
God' in our Pledge of Allegiance, as well as the religious national
motto," Mr. Darby told media in announcing the protest.
Followers of Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore have formed the
caravan in hopes of whipping up support for unconstitutional public
religion such as the two-ton Commandments display recently removed
from the foyer of the state Judicial Building by federal court order.
The demonstration will assemble beginning at 2:30 PM on the north
side of Dexter Avenue at Decatur Street in front of the old judicial
building (445 Dexter). This location is adjacent to the zone
established for the Commandments caravan, which is scheduled to
depart following a 3:00 pm rally at the nearby Capitol building.
Bring appropriate signs and banners for this peaceful demonstration.

Cool.
And if you go, make sure to stop by at Chris's Hot Dogs for lunch. It's just
down the street from the courthouse. Delicious!

Well i certainly hope they do better this time, than they usually do.
I often have to laugh when i see 'photos' from atheist protests
posted on the web. It is 'always' about 6-10 very 'goofy appearing'
atheists with a couple kids that look 'genetically' challenged :) . The
people in general appear overweight and underemployed . At least
this time you should have some extraneous support from leftists
in general :) and thereby increase the numbers 'somewhat' :) bob

As opposed to in inbred idolaters screaming "Don't take away our God" from the
extremist right?
And who are these leftists? Barry Goldwater, the peronification of extremist
right-wing conservatism during the 50s, 60s and 70s had some very interesting
things to say about the subject.
"By maintaining the separation of church and state, the United States has
avoided the intolerance which has so divided the rest of the world with
religious wars .... Can any of us refute the wisdom of Madison and the other
framers? Can anyone look at the carnage in Iran, the bloodshed in Northem
Ireland, or the bombs bursting in Lebanon and yet question the dangers of
injecting religious issues into the affairs of state. The religious factions
will go on imposing their will on others unless the decent people connected to
them recognize that religion has no place in public policy. They must learn to
make their views known without trying to make their views the only
alternatives... We have succeeded for 205 years in keeping the affairs of
state separate from the uncompromising idealism of religious groups and we
mustn't stop now,. To retreat from that separation would violate the principles
of conservatism and the values upon which the framers built this democratic
republic." - Sen. Barry Goldwater, Senate Speech, 15 September 1981
If there is anyone being "leftist" in this matter it is Moore and his
supporters who are attempting to have rigid state control and regulation of
religion just like their idols, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
