American Community Survey |
Has anyone received this intrusive bit of ***** from the Census Bureau?
I love the notice on the front stating that refusing to asnwer could result
in a fine.
This is the most flagrant attempt of violating my privacy to date.
Where are we? The USSA?
I knew these assholes would come up with some kind of ***** after 9-11
but this is ridiculous. What kind of vehicle did I drive to work? I drove
a fucking donkey and had people waving palm branches to keep me cool during
my journey.
This really pisses me off.
No, I will NOT fill out the survey nor will I anwser ANY questions. They
can see my attorney if they have questions.
I think that is one way to keep those people away.
----------------------
Census Bureau Weenie (CBW): "I am from the Census Bureau and I need to ask
you some questions."
Me: "I can not and will not answer any questions unless my lawyer is
present" (#1 NO - simple and straight- no fancy words just facts)
CBW: "We don't need your lawyer. I just want to know how many people live
here"
Me: "Let me say this one more time. I will not answer any questions unless
my attorney is present" (#2 NO - This ***** doesn't understand english -
he talks it though)
BCW" "All I need is your name"
Me: "My attorney said he would not represent or defend me in ANY matter
whatsoever if I answered *ANY* question at all. Would you like my
attorney's name and number so that you can call him and set up an
appontment?" (This is time #3 that I tell him "NO". This takes a special
kind of *****)
CBW: "But, but..."
Me: "Sorry. No attorney. No talkie!"
CBW: You could be fined if you don't answer the questions."
Me: "Is there a sign in front of my house?" (Here is where I start to
change the subject a little - ala Pulp Fiction If he or she is white then
I might drop the "N" bomb.)
CBW: "What?"
Me: "Is there a sign in front of my house that says "Attorney Storage"?
CBW: "Uhhh no"
Me: "How about "Dead N.... Storage"? Is there a sign out there that says
"Dead N..... Storage? (That should jog his memory. Maybe he will recall
the ball gag scene from Pulp Fiction. If not, he *will* recall poor Marvis
brains splattered all over and how Jules and Vincent had to clean it all up
with the aid of "The Wolf")
CBW: "No"
Me: "Then why the ***** are you standing there and asking me questions when
I have told you 4 times that I won't answer them?"
CBW: "Goodbye and have a nice day"
-------------------------------
I love my African America brothers. They have such a way with words and
they have such an uncanny ability to express themselves so eloquently and
with such panache. Just like the fellow at

And how many bathrooms you have, if you have problems walking stairs, if you
received welfare, if you have indoor plumbing, how much it cost to heat your
residence, if you have a second mortgage, how much your house insurance is,
if you are blind, deaf, etc, were you laid off last week, and lots more.
Screw that.
This is NOT a census. It is a survey. To date not one person has been fined
and even if they do fine me, I will pay the $100.00 to maintain my privacy.

No, perjury is lying under oath. Not to mention, how would they do an
audit? They'd have to get a judge to issue a warrant to come in the house
and count my toilets. <g>

Far be it for a government to be interested in information about plumbing,
fuel costs, income, and health care. Why not just make guesses and spend
money based on those guesses in nice places.
They might want to actually use that information to provide for the people
they serve.
(PG&E did such a survey over ten years ago here and the result was since
more than half of the town was below the poverty level, the entire town
received upgraded insulation in ceilings and a number of other cost saving
devices.)

That will never happen here. They would have to burn down all but 3 houses
in the town before we reach anything close to poverty level.

Read the survey. This is not a census!!!
http://www.census.gov/acs/www/Downloads/SQuest03.pdf
The questions are both ludicrous and insulting. The survey asks, for
instance, how many bathrooms you have in your house, how many miles
you drive to work, how many days you were sick last year, and whether
you have trouble getting up stairs. It goes on and on, mixing inane
questions with highly detailed inquiries about your financial affairs.
One can only imagine the countless malevolent ways our federal
bureaucrats could use this information. At the very least the survey
will be used to dole out pork, which is reason enough to oppose it.

I just wondered as they specifically made it a question.
I think there might be some elderly people in deepest darkest rural
Ireland/Northern Ireland without indoor plumbing - although Im not entirely
sure.

and whether you have trouble getting up stairs. It goes on and on,

Ours doesn't ask for any kind of financial information that I can see.
Are there many people in your country without indoor plumbing?
There are some people allegedly, but I don't know of any nor have I
ever met anyone that didn't have indoor plumbing. I used to know of
one place in Joliet, Illinois that didn't have sewers but they had
indoor plumbing. That was many years ago and you didn't go into that
neighborhood if you were white. They people that lived there didn't
like white people.
I just wondered as they specifically made it a question.
I think there might be some elderly people in deepest darkest rural
Ireland/Northern Ireland without indoor plumbing - although Im not
entirely sure.
While the toilet is a British invention, it has proven exceedingly popular
here in the colonies! ):>)

Some. And there's a group within some 60 miles of Wash. D.C. where very
large McMansions are being constructed not even a half mile away which
is all in a very wealthy county. But since these people are poor and
have dark skin that's 'ok.'

Color isn't the primary determination of whether you have water or not.
Water is a rural poor problem. In the south, where DC is, this may be
dark people. But other parts of the country it is a poor white problem.

It's also "illegal" to refuse to answer the census. But in the 90 census,
I participated in a little "protest" by the Libertarian party in which
they set up a defense fund and you stapled at "I refuse because..." kind
of thing to the form.
Because the *only thing mentioned in the Constitution is enumeration, I

First of all the maximum fine is $100.00 Secondly exactly zero people
have been fined. When they came around with the census I told them to
stuff it and wouldn't answer any of their questions. I think the "I will
answer no question unless my attorney is present" is the best way to avoid

Apparently you've never seen a full census survey before. They've been
asking these kinds of questions LONG before 9/11 and it's just for
statistical purposes.
I drove
a fucking donkey and had people waving palm branches to keep me cool
during my journey.
This really pisses me off.
No, I will NOT fill out the survey nor will I anwser ANY questions.
They can see my attorney if they have questions.
Yes, they'll see your lawyer as you're standing in front of the judge
and he's telling you the fine is valid.
<snip rest of rant>
Name three people that have been fined. Ok name one.
It's also "illegal" to refuse to answer the census. But in the 90
census, I participated in a little "protest" by the Libertarian party in
which they set up a defense fund and you stapled at "I refuse
because..." kind of thing to the form.
Because the *only thing mentioned in the Constitution is enumeration, I
filled out name, address, and number of people. Stapled the "stuff the
rest" thing to the form and sent it off.
Never heard a peep out of the feds.
First of all the maximum fine is $100.00
Maximum fine for falsifying answers is $500.
Secondly exactly zero people
have been fined.
I.e. "I don't personally know of anyone who's been fined so no-one has",
right? Damned poor logic there.
When they came around with the census I told them to
stuff it and wouldn't answer any of their questions. I think the "I will
answer no question unless my attorney is present" is the best way to avoid
it all.

I should have said "I cannot find a single case where someone has actually
been levied a fine". why? Because I cannot find one.
