Even if Roe v Wade is overturned, that doesn't "outlaw" abortion. It just
returns it to the states.
Which could make for interesting results. Many of the "red states" will,
of course, outlaw abortion. It'll remain legal in "blue states."
The well off in the "red states" will hop planes and get their abortions
still. The poor will...
Well, more poor, more crime, more strain on social services and education...

I think if the "blue" states demanded dollar-for-dollar parity, the "red"
states would be in for all *kinds of shocks.
Down here, we're getting about $1.47 per dollar paid in taxes. So about
one third of pretty much every government program around is being
subsidized by the "blue" states.
Good thing those "blue" states are all commie pinko liberal socialist
types or else they wouldn't subsidize us "red" states while we pee in
their faces!

Which will destroy the Republican Party. When the votes of the
congress and legislatures count a solid 30% or so of their voters will
refuse to vote for anyone who allows legal abortion. That will tear
the Republicans apart. You will see tiny minorities of anti-abortion

more like 15-20% of the total voters) and the rules will get

Vote Libertarian and kill roe v wade.
Even if Roe v Wade goes bye-bye, doctors will still perform abortions
and write them up as something else. Some anti-cancer drugs have
off-label uses as abortifacients.
Even if Roe v Wade is overturned, that doesn't "outlaw" abortion. It just
returns it to the states.
Which will destroy the Republican Party. When the votes of the congress
and legislatures count a solid 30% or so of their voters will refuse to
vote for anyone who allows legal abortion. That will tear the Republicans
apart. You will see tiny minorities of anti-abortion legislators and a
strong political will for keeping abortion legal. At that point the others
will have no reason to appease the 30% (which is more like 15-20% of the
total voters) and the rules will get "liberalized". The great fear of the
pro-corporation Republican Party is the overthrow of Roe.

And if they actually "solve the problems" of which they *****, how will
they drive the brain dead fundies to the polls?
Diebold will vote for them.
Roe v. Wade needs to always "about" to be overturned...

Easy, they are not brain dead.

It's a moral issue, and abortion is not moral. You lose.

An interesting notion, a secular court mutating into an eccliastical

I understand your concern and position (though I hope you understand
that others disagree). My point, however, was political. I expect,
even hope, that people use their moral standards when making
decisions. Politics, however, is the art of the possible. Voting for
someone who demands what you consider moral can end up with increased
immorality. Your actions are your decision.

If the law is thusly written, yes. That's what would have
happened pre-1973 in Texas, for example; however, other
states allowed abortions. Many still do; California Penal
Code, for example, would be unaffected by a decision to
overturn Roe v. Wade, unless the decision to overturn
becomes a federal ban on the procedure somehow.
I'll admit to some curiosity as to how long it takes for
a decision to become "settled law" and be subject to
stare decisis. It's only been 32+ years; copyright in
particular is death+70 or death+100 -- I forget which.
We may have to wait until about 2153 before Roe v. Wade
is "settled law"; until then, we'll have to be content
perhaps with "prior decision". :-)
A prior example -- "separate but equal" -- lasted 58 years:
http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/gaynor/050728
so there's the possibility that Roe v. Wade will become
"settled law" in the next decision (presumably late this
year), only to be overturned 26 years later.
It is unclear what the Feds can do if the question devolves
back to the states; the most likely scenario is a federal
ban on transportation of women for the purposes of creating
a situation or doing something that would be a violation of
a statute in their state of residence/origin.
This could get ... messy.

Actually, I believe he wants registered Democrats to vote Libertarian,
thereby "discarding" their votes so the Republicans can waltz into
office and dismantle any laws they don't like, Roe being on the top of
their list.
