Object: An Atheist's Interpretation of Genesis
Experts say that Genesis starts with .... 'In the beginning when the Gods began to
create Heaven and Earth' - the word used, 'Elohim', being plural. My mind links this with
the Garden of Eden scene in which God uses the phrase 'become like us'.
So? How many Gods?
Two - just two.
One can interpret the beginning of Genesis as being a reference to the act of
procreation .... 'In the beginning, when mummy and daddy had sex ....'
Well? If one is going to explain where we came from there's no better place to start
than at the beginning, is there?
Following this way of looking at things the 'Let there be light' bit is obviously a reference
to being born.
Things get a bit sordid when Adam and Eve get carried away in the Garden of Eden.
I suppose one might call this a 'Sexual Interpretation Of The Hebrew Text Of Genesis'?
What do you think that Genesis 3.15 is all about?
'I will put enmity between you and the woman,
Between her brood and your brood
It shall bruise your head
And you shall bruise his heel'
What does that mean when given a "sexual" interpretation?
Who the hell wrote this stuff, eh?
Vast numbers of minds under its spell!
Amazing!
