An atheist's view
Dear Honest Doubter, I'd like to speak up for honest doubters everywhere.
Many religious people seem to think if we nonbelievers don't share their
particular cherished beliefs, we must reject also everything that they use
God as a placeholder for: Love, Truth, Joy, Patriotism, Compassion,
Decency, Community, Family, Morality and the Meaning of Life. Don't
atheists value these things just as much as their religious friends and
neighbors? Of course they do. But we find them in the real world, using
reason and compassion, not in wishful thinking or archaic mythology.
