against Muhammad, Islam's prophet, and sentenced to death, police said
today.
Unfortunately it's not the first and won't be the last. See,

jail, under a death sentence, because someone with a grudge accused them
of saying something bad about Mohamed. It's their goverment's way of
appeasing fundy assholes.

power. I don't doubt that were they to regain that power, they'd return
to that way, sooner or later.
You'll note that Muslims in America don't do this, at least not in the
open.

Don't doubt it. Weep. All christian churches prefer violence over
logic, given half the chance. Those churches that don't practise
violence simply appeared too late on the scene.

You mean England of course - Wales and Scotland don't have an established
church. The Church of England is only really christian when it comes to things
like being nasty to homosexuals. Things like the virgin birth and believing in
god are kind of optional extras.

I have known for several years that the most fanatic Muslims are just as
bad as the most fanatic Xtians. What annoys me about the Xtians (and the
Muslims, for that matter) is the smug assumption that "I'm right and
they're wrong", based soley on childhood conditioning, and having no basis
in fact.

There's a growing realisation amongst many that, faced with a choice between two
evils, the cardinal is probably preferable to the imam. After all the catholics
are probably only stuck in the 19th century in terms of their thinking. The
muslims are more like the dark ages.
Of course, if the christian right had their way, most western countries would be
looking to Pakistan as a model of a modern theocracy (except it's maybe a bit
too liberal for them).

But that could lead some to the erroneous assumption that
xians came out of the dark ages by themselves. Their
ignorance ceased not through their own actions, but by
being dragged kicking and screaming into enlightenment by
rational thinking.
The only difference between xian extremists and muslim
extremists is opportunity, not intent.

Yeah, the secular liberalism that flowed out of the Enlightenment has
served to temper Christianity's bloodthirst. The muslim world needs
to have an Enlightenment of its own.
The strange thing is that while Christians were slaughtering one
another over who's imaginary friend was best, Muslims were the
bastions of western knowledge and scions of tolerance.
I have to wonder where it all went wrong. Perhaps European/American
colonialism is involved? I don't know, but it's odd.
