Former pastor pleads

RAPID CITY -- A former Rapid City youth pastor serving a prison term
for raping a 13-year-old girl appeared Monday in 7th Circuit Court
where he faces more rape charges.
Glenn Ford, 40, pleaded not guilty in July 2005 to second-degree rape
and an alternate count of third-degree rape. He is accused of raping
another 13-year-old girl.
Ford is currently serving an eight-year prison term for raping a
13-year-old girl. Both girls were members of his church, Victory
Chapel on La Crosse Street.
In the first case, Ford pleaded guilty Jan. 14, 2005, to one count of
third-degree rape. In March 2005, 7th Circuit Judge Merton Tice Jr.
sentenced Ford to 15 years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary but
suspended seven years.
Ford pleaded guilty to the new charges in July 2005. He will go to
trial June 7.
Seventh Circuit Judge Janine Kern set a motions hearing in the case
for May 22 and requested that Ford stay in custody at the Pennington
County Jail until the trial so he has better access to his attorney.
He is currently in custody at the Mike Durfee State Prison in
Springfield.
If convicted of second-degree rape, Ford faces 25 years in prison and
a $25,000 fine. If convicted of third-degree rape, he faces a maximum
of 15 years and a $15,000 fine. He may only be convicted of one of the
two charges.
Lara Roetzel, chief deputy state's attorney for Pennington County,
said in December that both girls were raped during the same time
period: One from March to June 2004 and one in June 2004. The second
girl came forward with allegations after reading about Ford's
sentencing.
