Andrew B Chung Bible Study of the Day: Genocide is Okay! (Obadiah 1:8-9) |
OBADIAH
1:8 Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men
out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
1:9 And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that
every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

Perhaps he didn't want to go to Vietnam, because he had the sneaky
little suspicion (later proved), that the government lied to us about
the Vietnam war, cooked up the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, and generally
fought it like it was a hobby horse to be ridden for the fun of it.
That kind of awesome b.s., translated into a lot of dead G.I.'s AND
South Vietnamese who fought against the North.
Westmoreland (yes, THAT General Westmoreland), lied his ***** off about
the war, to the President, and to Congress, trying to prevent us from
losing it. Result: EVEN MORE G.I.'s were killed.
Disgraceful, show all around.
When you're talking about war, there is one quote you MUST remember,
from a man who knew it only too well:
"It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks
and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, more vengance, more
desolation. War is hell. -
General William Tecumseh Sherman
Now look at the Iraq instigators: Bush, Rumsfeld, Chaney, Rice,
Wolfiwitz, etc. Guess what? Not one ever fought in Vietnam, or in any
other "hot spot". They ALL got either stateside service, or multiple
deferments, or a combination of the two, or weren't subject to service
(Rice, unless she volunteered, and she didn't).
General Sherman, was again, proven quite right. Cindy Sheehan and many
others, are now in deep distress and shock because they've had the
unthinkable occur to their son/daughter.
They thought it was a hobby horse ride, not a war, where many will die.
NOW they moan and complain to the heavens. Where were those complaints
BEFORE the war started? The demand for factual proof of the iraqi WMD?
They should have listened to the likes of General Sherman, and demand
the proof from Bush before allowing their senators and representatives
to give him the OK to go to war.
Because all lies and facts, and politicing aside - WAR is HELL, and NOT
a hobby horse ride.

In other words, if Andrew believed that the LORD wanted him to kill someone,
say in his cardiology practice, Andrew would not hesitate to do the LORD's
will. The BIBLE full of killing, stoning, and other ways of dealing death
all at the command and/or hand of the a killer GOD. Andrew loves that
stuff.

It remains my choice to continuing walking with the LORD and be guided

the sin.

"... There's glory for you."
"I don't know what you mean by 'glory,'" Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiles contemptuously. "Of course you don't--till
I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!'"
"But glory doesn't mean "a nice knock-down argument," Alice objected.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone,
"it means just what I choose it to mean--neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice "whether you can make words mean so
many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master--that's
all."

out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
The LORD remains kind, just, and right.
Just as the builder of a house has every right to tear the house down
to build a different one, so the LORD had every right to unmake the
Edomites.
So, when it's done in the name of religion, genocide is a good thing, eh?
When the LORD unmakes something that HE had created, it remains well
within HIS right.
If you thought God was telling you to "smite" the unbelievers, would you do
so?
It remains my choice to obey the LORD in all things following Abraham's
example as described in Genesis 22:2-18.
Is it any wonder why many people around the world find religious
"fundamentalist" (whether Christian, Muslim, or whatever) to be dangerously
deluded?
Without the LORD, there is only fear and despair.
Most adults without mental health problems do not need religion as such
a crutch, even if they are strongly religious.
The LORD is not a religion.
What?
Yes.
Your statement was meaningless.
Without the LORD, all will seem meaningless.

If Hitler was your God, you would call him "kind, just, and right" AND he is
just an amature compared to the disease, death, and destruction your LORD
causes and enjoys.
