So let's see. According to Deu 22:28, the penalty for rape is about 30
shekels of silver. A sheckel is about 17 grams, at 20 cents a gram,
the Biblical penalty for rape now a days is about $100.
No doubt the Andrew B Chung will claim how is right that the penalty
for rpae is somehow less than the price for a speeding ticket, but he
is, afterall, a moron.

30 shekels is probably worth more than $100 in antiquity. Which is why
it is absolutely ridiculous to expect that 2000 year-old rule can be
applied wholesale today.

50 shekels is undoubtedly more valuatble in the past. But this brings
up two points:
1) The Bible still treats rape as a simple civil offense rather than a
riminal offense
2) The Christians want to install Biblcal law wholesale, and this is
just another instance why it is unrealistic.
