Angry Atheists and America

"Atheists, it turns out, are one of America’s most hated
groups. In a recent study at the University of Minnesota on
the American Mosaic Project, Researchers Penny Edgell,
Joseph Gerties and Douglas Hartmann.
Americans rate atheists below Muslims, recent immigrants,
gays and lesbians and other minority groups in ’sharing
their vision of American society.’ Atheists are also the
minority group most Americans are least willing to allow
their children to marry…[Atheists are] seen as a threat
to the American way of life by a large portion of the
American public."

Okay so in Northern Ireland the Catholics and the Protestants still don't
get on terribly well but they generally tend to leave the atheists alone!
You'll get a little bit of incredulity - "but how can you not?!" but that's

basically, being part of different flavours of the same religion - but NOT

Well now to be fair none of the people I actually interact with have that
problem. SInce I started working I've always worked with both Catholics &
Protestants and no one has ever (overtly at least) made an issue of it.
Those who have a real genuine theological problem with it are in the
minority. Which just leaves those who have a "them" & "us" mentality.
The joke in NI is that if you saidyou were Jewish you'd be asked Catholic
Jew or Protestant Jew. Actually when you're asked in anonymous equality
questionnaires if you're from the protestant or catholic community (rather
that if you are a catholic or protestant although IIRC they do ask if you're
Muslim, Jewish etc).

Because since the 1950s, brainwashed retards have equated it with
communism, incuding the then President (Eisenhower) who signed the
changes in the pledge and motto into law. Since then two generations
of unthinking reigionists have been taught that from birth, with
constant media, movie etc reinforcement.

Agreed.
The difference

obvious...
But don't assume that radicalism is only limited to the religious. It
seems that being radical and extremely polarized is a badge of honor
for theists and atheists alike (or any other group for that matter)
and being moderate is seen as a weakness. Neither side can get past
the images of the bitter rabid atheist and the foaming in the mouth
fundie.

"Atheists, it turns out, are one of America's most hated
groups. In a recent study at the University of Minnesota on
the American Mosaic Project, Researchers Penny Edgell,
Joseph Gerties and Douglas Hartmann.
Americans rate atheists below Muslims, recent immigrants,
gays and lesbians and other minority groups in 'sharing
their vision of American society.' Atheists are also the
minority group most Americans are least willing to allow
their children to marry.[Atheists are] seen as a threat
to the American way of life by a large portion of the
American public."
And your point is?
Well, what do you THINK the point could be? Or are you just fine with a
situation like that?
How I feel about it is irrelevant. My question concerned his purpose
in posting the information.
Information.
