Object: Another church sign (What, me worry?)
Seen on a sign outside a local church:
"Worry is the darkroom in which negatives
can develop."
Now, I'm a worrier, and I can appreciate
that undue worrying is probably not
entirely healthy, but if you run the above
saying all the way out, you get to
worrying as a _positive_. After all, when
you develop negatives in a darkroom,
the end result is a print, AKA a positive.

Isn't it not true that that sign also applies to double negatives?

"Worry is not the darkroom in which negatives cannot develop?"

Well no, when you develop a negative, you get a negative.
However, one could certainly describe the positive print as the negative of
the negative. Yikes!

I always developed negatives in a tank,
no darkroom needed. Can't church signs
_ever_ make sense to the informed?

No. They aren't the targets.

Sure, but their entire focus is on the negatives.

Just kidding :-)

I shouldn't worry about it, it is just some religious plonker making claims on another
subject, about which he knows sweet Fanny Adams.
I have been a keen, if not very good, photographer, for most of my life, and I never
entered the Dark Room, until I wanted to make prints.
