Another Conservative Jumping Off of Bush's Sinking Ship Part XVII (re: Why Are NeoCons So Incompetent?) |
"Famous academic Francis Fukuyama, one of the founding fathers of the
neo-conservative movement that underlies the policies of US President
George W. Bush's administration, said on July 13 that he would not
vote for the incumbent in the November 2 US Presidential election. "

I don't think there's much to the persistant outcry we are hearing as
of late regarding Conservatives and Neo-Conservatives saying they are
no longer supporting Bush. I believe this to be only a face saving
gesture on the part of people who pride themselves on backing
"winners". It is like publicly changing your bet during the final
seconds of a horse race. These people will certainly vote for Bush
though, even while stating otherwise, and will let you know they did
the moment he wins (if he does).
What this does mean for Democrats though is that they have definitely
struck fear into the until-only-recently arrogant, pompous and cocky
heart of the Republican party. Republicans at the highest levels are
starting to bet against Bush winning. They are preparing themselves
so they can later say it was because he "wasn't Conservative enough",
when in reality it was because he was too far from the Center.

He would have cruised to reelection had he not tried a) fight this non
sequitur war in Iraq and b) done this so badly.
