Accused speeder says car 'guided by God'
By Sophia Voravong, Journal and Courier
A Michigan man accused of speeding through Tippecanoe County on Interstate
65 with his young daughter in the vehicle told investigators "the car was
being guided by God."
Scott D. Guzik, 37, of Southgate, Mich., was arrested on suspicion of
neglect of a dependent and resisting law enforcement. He is being held at
Tippecanoe County Jail on $250,000 surety bond.
His daughter, Amanda Guzik, 6, was not injured and is being cared for by her
mother, Guzik's ex-wife.
Guzik is accused of leading police from multiple agencies on an hourlong,
high-speed pursuit through Jasper, White, Tippecanoe, Clinton and Boone
counties Saturday morning, eventually ditching his 2002 Chevrolet Camaro
outside a home near Lebanon.
He was arrested without incident inside a barn at the residence on Boone
County Road 500 West.
It was not immediately clear Monday why Guzik was brought back to Tippecanoe
County for incarceration.
Indiana State Police first clocked Guzik's 2002 Chevrolet Camaro about 9:45
a.m. near Rensselaer headed southbound on I-65 at 106 mph. The vehicle was
clocked at 89 mph near the Indiana 25 exit in Lafayette.
Several witnesses told police the Camaro was passing vehicles in the
emergency stopping lane.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday in Tippecanoe Superior
Court 6, Guzik told Trooper Jerrod Patty that the vehicle was driving itself
and going fast because "it must be what God wanted."
Formal charges have yet to be filed.
Guzik said God spoke to him by applying pressure to Guzik's temples, neck
and forehead.
He told police he was led by God from his home outside Detroit into the
country to sacrifice his daughter, who, Guzik told police, had been attacked
by demons in her sleep.
Guzik said God told him to get his daughter out of his house to escape the
demons because she was in danger.
Sacrificing his daughter, Guzik told police, would save the world.
Guzik shared custody of this daughter with his ex-wife and was caring for
the girl over the weekend.

car bomb, car bomb!

He was arrested without incident inside a barn at the residence on
Boone County Road 500 West.

ogod has a twisted sense of humor

According to a probable cause affidavit filed Monday in Tippecanoe
Superior Court 6, Guzik told Trooper Jerrod Patty that the vehicle was
driving itself and going fast because "it must be what God wanted."

Standard Oil *is* god.

Formal charges have yet to be filed.
Guzik said God spoke to him by applying pressure to Guzik's temples,
neck and forehead.

aha. A new variation on the old MSG defense.

He told police he was led by God from his home outside Detroit into
the country to sacrifice his daughter, who, Guzik told police, had
been attacked by demons in her sleep.

no no no, she was counting sheep, but they were Bighorn sheep.

Guzik said God told him to get his daughter out of his house to escape
the demons because she was in danger.
Sacrificing his daughter, Guzik told police, would save the world.

no one can save the sheep from themselves.

Guzik shared custody of this daughter with his ex-wife and was caring
for the girl over the weekend.

Why?!

aha. A new variation on the old MSG defense.

Sounds like the police need to issue an arrest warrant for Guzik's
accomplice.

Cripes! Now whenever I see a car with one of those 'God is my co-pilot'
bumper stickers, I'm pulling off the road.

No, but they seized power and there's nought to be done about it.
