Another Good Riddance Friday Falls By the Wayside |
With each passing year, the myth of jebus grows less potent, as 2000
years of broken god promises collide with the reality of the modern
world. People used to close businesses early and take off from work to
go to mass on so-called "Good Friday". Based upon what I observed from
people today, most of them scarcely even remembered the
supposed significance of this day for their story-book messiah. At most,
they were scampering about, getting easter candy for their children and
getting food for a sunday dinner. Like most "holidays", easter has
become thoroughly commercialized and secularized. Religious people still
try to cling to the empty husk of their alleged faith, but a lot of them
are barely going through the motions any more. Way more people probably
opted to enjoy happy hour this Friday than attend church. The iron grip
of religion is weak and slipping fast, thanks to the embarrassing
excesses of fundy idiots. Despite attempted revivals of late in the US,
the shelf life of xianity has been up for a while and its rotting core is
starting to stink. Religion is dying and good riddance to it.

"It is fashionable to wax apocalyptic about the
threat to humanity posed by the AIDS virus, 'mad cow'
disease, and many others, but I think a case can be
made that faith is one of the world's great evils,
comparable to the smallpox virus but harder to
eradicate." -- Richard Dawkins
