Another insane Christofascist |

According to Franklin Graham, the son of evangelist, Billy Graham,
"There´s been Satanic worship in New Orleans. There´s been sexual
perversion. God is going to use that storm to bring a revival. God has
a plan. God has a purpose."
On CNN, Graham later denied that he was referring to the lord
punishing New Orleans as the latest God driven plague.
After reading his quote and then the transcript of an interview with
CNN, I am sorry to say that I honestly do not believe Franklin Graham.
I personally think he was hit by a storm of controversy due to his
amazing comments and backed off- after realizing how absolutely and
incredibly diabolical it made him look.

I know there are nutcases involved with the religion business, but
usually the nuttiest are those with small congregations to whom they
can spout their hate speech with relative anonymity. Not only are
Billy-boy's comments gratuitously mean and utterly pathological, but
Jennifer Giroux goes out of her way to out-nut the nut:
*********
"JOE SCARBOROUGH, HOST SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY: Do you agree with Reverend
Graham, that this was part of God's plan?
JENNIFER GIROUX, DIRECTOR, WOMEN INFLUENCING THE NATION: Joe, I don't
have any problem with what the Reverend Graham said.
I believe that, when he talks about New Orleans and a cloud of darkness
hanging over an immoral city, he could be referring to any city in the
United States. I believe that God will not be mocked. We talked about
this just eight-and-a-half months ago with the tsunami. It's a very
delicate theological issue, as we talked about then.
You know, all of us have a sinful nature. And many innocent people
suffer, along with those that perhaps were engaged in sinful activity.
But let's look at the state at which our country is in, abortion,
contraception, homosexuality, cloning, I mean, it all really comes
together in one big picture.
Why do you think those like myself and those in my organization that
voted for President Bush are outraged that he is saying he doesn't have
a litmus test? Abortion is an abomination, an offense and mocks God."
***********
This woman needs medication and psychiatric treatment. By her moral
lights, it's OK if God is a little sloppy and smites the innocent along
with the guilty. According to the Christers, God does have this
problem of focus, doesn't He? He invents AIDS to punish the perverts
and druggies, but he doesn't focus His punishment and it slops over
into unborn babies, the inncent wives of AIDS afflicted men, and
unlucky health care providers. New Orleans is similar. Good Baptists
along with Satanic rump-wranglers were caught in the inundation. And
the Tsunami! Hell, suffer the little children along with the righteous
adults. Those people were heathens! They needed chastisement, at least
according to the grace-filled Christian above.
As for Billy-boy, he's playing to his constituency. Osteen has the
simple-minded softball Christians in his pocket. Graham is trying to
cultivate a different niche, and he's going after the hard-over,
mean-spirited, hate-for-Jesus crowd. He wants the kind of old-school
Christian who could do a lynching on Saturday then bathe in the grace
of the Almighty on Sunday. He is, of course, your classic Elmer Gentry
type (although without Gentry's gentle nature), a pure-bred hypocrite
out to exploit a famous name to keep the very prosperous family
business going. I'll give him five years. Within 5 years we'll find
him on television blubbering "I have sinned" once he's caught with some
bimbo in a cheap hotel room.=20

I got half way through it, and couldn't bring myself to read on, for
fear that such utter insanity (from everyone in the interview), would
give me brain damage.
"Lunatics" is too kind.
"Asylum" may be more on the mark.
It was like being transported back to 1000 BCE, and listening to a
bunch of illiterate schizophrenic shamans railing at invisible demons.
Do not be alarmed. Be VERY, VERY frightened.
If this is representative of what passes for rational debate on US TV,
then the country is already well-and-truly intercoursed.
