Anthony Flew: still an atheist
Archive: Skeptics & Atheists
Anthony Flew rebuts the rumors that he has ceased to be an atheist:
Those rumours speak false. I remain still what I have been now for
over fifty years, a negative atheist. By this I mean that I construe
the initial letter in the word ‘atheist’ in the way in which everyone
construes the same initial letter in such words as ‘atypical’ and
‘amoral’. For I still believe that it is impossible either to verify
or to falsify - to show to be false - what David Hume in his Dialogues
concerning Natural Religion happily described as “the religious
hypothesis.”
Sorry to Disappoint, but I’m Still an Atheist!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What a shocker that the Godbots would make up a lie to support
their fantasy.
Errrrrrrrr..... Wait.... There was Colombine.... Using a murdered
dead girl to promote christianity.
Never mind.

And more...
"On 16th December 2004, Professor Antony Flew, British philosopher, well
known rationalist, atheist and an Honorary Associate of Rationalist
International, telephoned me and informed that the wild rumours about his
changed views are baseless. He expressed surprise over the confusion some
people have spread and asserted that his position about the belief in god
remains unchanged and is the same as it was expressed in his famous speech
'Theology and Falsification'. 'I find no new reason to change my views',
Professor Flew said."

Actually, this quote may be from a few years ago when he was rumored
to have become a theist. You are right though that they will lie
cheat and steal to promote their religion.

Yup, I saw that quote at infidels.org, dated 2001. The latest from Flew
is the 2004 dated deist statement the Christers are morphing into a full-
fledged christ-flogging born-again episode a la Billy Graham. Idiots.
Anybody catch any of this on the televangelist channels yet?

I can't stomach those shows. The naked money-grubbing interferes with
my ability to keep food down.
Never the less, I have no doubt that it's just a matter of time before
the evangelicals start preaching about "the prominent atheist who
found Christ".
We should probably start fleshing out the FAQ entry now.

I find them entertaining. In a dark, menacing way.

The FAQ isn't for the trolls. As hard as it is to believe, given the
signal-to-noise ratio, every so often we do get sincere theists who are
genuinely curious about us.
