Are most pro-lifer/Republicans fundamentally liars? |
After watching the GOP debates, some of the most fervently religious
comments got me thinking. (Exceptions to Paul, Giuliani, ...) Some of
these people really think abortion is murder? Do they really? Their
major concern is overturning Roe vs. Wade so the decision can be left
up to the states (what they also ignore to say is that federal laws
(not requiring constitutional amendments) could also be passed).
I think slavery is wrong. I sure as ***** wouldn't leave slavery up to
the states. ***** state's rights. They can't have slavery if they want
it.
My theory is that all the (abortion=murder) pro-lifers arguing for
state's rights are liars. They either aren't pro-life or they don't
really give a ***** about state's rights: it's just a convenient
argument for them.
But I think this issue is much bigger. Do these people really think
abortion is murder? If there was a building down the street from me
where murder was taking place every day and I knew this, I would get
off my ***** and do something about it. ***** the law, it's murder, mass
murder. At a minimum, I'd burn that building to the ground.
Basically I think the abortion clinic terrorist are the only rational
(abortion=murder) pro-lifers. If an abortion really is murder, then I
feel that such terrorism would really be justified. I think all the
rest are liars, all of them.

It's quite worrying to see that the USA are slowly but serely turning
into one big religion-fanatics led country. With the silent approval
of the population.
I think this mass-inertia explains very well how -for example- nazis
could take power in Germany. Of course, a lot of Germans didn't
approve, but far too few had to courage to stand and say "no way". How
come no politician has the courage to say "my religious belief are a
private matter, thank you"? In which way is it important for the
people to know the religious convictions of their candidates? Hasn't
the case of the awol coke-head moron showed how hypocrite this is?
"It's OK that he is by far the most incompetent president ever, that
he is a liar, that he is cynical because he calls himself christian".
When will the USA wake up?

After watching the GOP debates, some of the most fervently religious
comments got me thinking. (Exceptions to Paul, Giuliani, ...) Some of
these people really think abortion is murder? Do they really? Their
major concern is overturning Roe vs. Wade so the decision can be left
up to the states (what they also ignore to say is that federal laws
(not requiring constitutional amendments) could also be passed).
When they asked which of them didn't believe in evolution
(their phraseology), only three raised their hands. They
moved away from them too quickly to see who they were.
Only three out of ten. Interesting.

Never.

I don't believe it. Religion and ignorance are on the wane. What you're
seeing now is religion's death throes. Seriously. They are all so defensive.

I sincerely hope you're right, but I don't think it's a "slam dunk"
(where have I heard that expression before? Hmmm...)
Religious fanaticism feeds on fear and hopelessness, and there are many
things that could trigger it: economic conditions, natural disasters,
terrorist attacks.
Certainly the current administration has used fear as their primary
weapon to maintain power, and it's no surprise this adminstration is so
closely allied with religious fundamentalists.
If civil unrest increases, I think we'll see a corresponding increase in
religious fanaticism in the US.

Is this the scene in the movie where the hero thinks he's killed the monster and
it's come back to life for one last hail of chemically reactive bullets? :-)

Wish it were so. But as I say death throes, it will take a while for the
beast to die. And forgive me for mixing metaphors, but a few of these
cornered rats are going to lash out at society.

Brownback, Tancredo, and Huckabee

Yup, they don't trust states to decide what the legal drinking age
should be, or the maximum speed limit on highways, or whether to require
motorcycle helmets, but think states *should* be able to decide
something as important as whether abortion should be legal.
Invoking "states rights" is something to watch out for, because it's
always code for an underlying agenda.
