Are the riots planned or spontaneous

I still am not buying into the theory that the largely Muslim
riots are the start of Islamic Jihad to take over the West.
These riots have brought out the pundits on the extreme
left and right.
On the left they spin the riots as a manifestation of the
anger caused by the failure of the French government
and French society to integrate Muslims and provide
more social programs to alleviate Muslim poverty and
provide greater opportunities for Muslims to rise up
the income and social ladder so they can leave their
impoverished neighborhoods for a better life and facilitate
their integration into French society.
On the right, the pundits argue that the Muslim riots are the start of Islamic Jihad
to Islamize the West to their ways. The right claims and probably rightly so, that
the French social welfare system has drawn Muslims to immigrate to France because the
social welfare system provides them with a far better lifestyle than working at home
could have provided. The right further holds that the Muslim poverty and the crime
Muslims have brought to France has been self induced by their different values, their
having been given their wish not to integrate and to retain all the culture they
brought with them, which of course includes all the hatreds they bear for the West
and their own culture of victimhood at the hands of the evil west. One of the authors
of the articles you sent me, notes that unions in France are militant and presumably
have won concessions through violence. This would not be lost on Muslims. Further,
the values of Islam that are an anathema to Western society, including Islam's
destiny to dominate the world and Muslim hatred of the west including blaming the
West and France especially in the case of the French Muslims, for their failings due
to their being victims of the West, has been stoked by a number of their community
leaders and imams. I do not accept the left's view of things. I am however very
suspect of the right's take on things and their conclusions of what is. I am more
inclined to the right's views in terms of what will be and probably will sooner than
later.
From all that I have read, the anger of the Muslims and non-Muslim North Africans
that are fueling the riots, are causing an indiscriminate lashing out, but it is not
yet directing them for any specific purpose other than generally to gain improvements
by the government doing more.
What improvements and what more is not clear. Though it appears the rioters do have
some loose organization, in that it appears their violence is being directed in
certain ways by others, the violent angry rioters do not have any clear message or
demands beyond angry accusations and the like.
It may be that the Muslim anger will evolve to become focused to Islamize France and
Europe, if it isn't in the process of doing so already, but that I do not think is
the case at this moment.
While we may disagree on what purpose this particular riot is meant to serve, we are
not disagreed on the problems France and Europe and indeed other Western societies,
including Canada have with its Muslim population.
If Villepin and Chirac take only the appeasement approach to quell the riots, give
Muslims more advantages and thereby restore order, I have little doubt that the next
time Muslims resort to violence, it will be far more organized and purposeful and
will likely fairly be called the start of the intifadah to Islamize France and Europe
as a number of well informed writers have predicted.
Villepin and Chirac may think they have balls, but given their appeasement approach
to Muslims within and outside of France, no one has to look in their pants to know
they are eunuchs, a fact that Muslims also know full well and have taken full
advantage of thus far.
No doubt that the situation or conditions fueled the anger that erupted. Equally
there is no doubt that a psrt of the anger is due to the Islamification of the Muslim
youths.
As Bill points out, it is more important where this anger will be channelled rather
then the reasons for it erupting. It is also more important how France will respond.
At the moment it is focussing on improving conditions. I believe efforts in this
direction will be fruitless. As they say, you can lead a horse to water but you can't
make it drink. The desire for separation is too strong.
The aggressiveness of the Arabs in pushing their culture and religion in the face of
a secular culture which includes relativism will dominate the political discourse.
This clash is most predominant in Europe.

riots are riots... you can not "plan" a riot.
It is rage.
Now let see how would Bush decalring "crusades" against the Muslim
world affect that rage?
