Arlen Specter: An idea whose time has gone |
Know what they call Republicans who care about
healthcare and a woman's right to choose?
They call them Democrats.
Arlen Specter is not a Democrat. Arlen Specter's
only "concern" with a woman's right to choose is
how to take it away from her.
No, it isn't complicated. Alito is for an all-powerful
government (read: "Executive"), and is not the
friend of personal liberties. And by "personal liberties"
I'm not limiting myself to abortion rights, but I am
most certainly including abortion amongst the personal
liberties Alito hates.
For too long Arlen Specter has played moderate,
talked the talk while never once walking the walk.
He was oh so "concerned" about healthcare, and we
were never supposed to question his sincerity because
of his cancer. But he's not sincere. He's a Republican,
and like it or not America would no longer be the only
modern economy in the world without a national
healthcare system if it weren't for the Republicans... if
it weren't for people like Arlen Specter, and the party
he LOYALLY serves.
I'm not saying that Arlen Specter tried to serve two
masters -- the American people and the Republican
party elite -- and failed. I'm pointing out the fact that
Arlen Specter serves one master, and has only ever
served one master, and that master is the national
healthcare hating, women hating, Alito loving
Republican party.
Cancer may have not taken your life, Arlen Specter,
but you surrendered your conscience.
Maybe from this day forward your career be as
dead to the voters as the health & freedom of the
American people is to you.
Curse you, and all the rest of the cowards who
pretend to be open minded, who pretend to be
moderates, but only ever grovel at the feet of
the lunatic Reich wing.

There is no federal "right to choose". It's a state issue.
If you're concerned about the Constitution, if you're concerned about
individual rights, then you must agree that Roe v. Wade should be
overturned.

That's a filthy lie. It's an individuals right, and an individual
decision. It has nothing to do with farm-team politicians who
couldn't make it to the federal level.
Face reality: a confederacy is the worst kind of government
ever invented. The United States was originally a confederacy,
and it failed so miserably that SOUTHERNERS came up with
the idea of federalism... SOUTHERNERS wrote the federal
constitution.
Later, pathetic wannabes who refused to learn from history's
mistakes decided to re-introduce the confederacy. It proved
(beyond doubt) to be the worst enemy of those wannabes.
Before the Civil War was over, Jefferson Davis was granting
himself every power imaginable, trying to overcome the
obsticals a confederacy presented him.
If "government" is bad, it's worse when it's a state "government."
If you're concerned about the Constitution, if you're

that Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
Exactly the opposite. Nobody has a right to another person's
body. Nobody. So even if you need to pretend that a fetus is
a baby, a baby doesn't have a right to a parent's body.

Sure, and go back to the dark ages when women had to bare children they did
not want and the children
grow up in an atmosphere of hate and neglect. Or have women again have to
resort to back alley
non physician abortionists that resulted inmany serious and sometimes death
causing maltreatments.
Abortion is a personal decission that should be left up to the women. If
here religious beliefs
prohibit abortion, fine, that is her decision to make. If a women sees no
religious problem with
abortion she should have the freedom to decide accordingly.
Neither an ergot or fetus is a person. It is an ergot or fetus that exists
in the womens body only by
the choice of the women.
Keep religion out of politics.

It's not the Supreme Court's job to determine whether abortion is right or
wrong. It's their job to judge laws with respect to the Constitution.
Since the Constitution says nothing about abortion, pro or con, it is a state
issue.

There is already a law either in the works or on the books (I
forget which) which makes it a federal crime to transport
women or minors (ditto) across state lines for the purpose
of procuring an abortion.

Also, abortion providers definitely do *not* use meatcleavers. :-)
At present, there are a fair number of methods, in fact:
the "morning after pill" and the suction curette come to
mind -- and that's assuming the former does any detachment
of a z/e/f at all, as opposed to merely preventing implantation.
The relatively messy ID&E (commonly misconstrued as a
"partial birth abortion") is used very rarely, and saline
abortions are nowadays unheard of in the US.
But never mind that; we must ban all abortions since
otherwise Al Qaeda/Democrats/communists/faceless
bureaucrats/aliens from the planet Zoroastria
might just waltz in and take over. Can't be
too careful nowadays with all those deadly
terrorists/immoral women/judges legislating from the
bench/gays/heathen churches/Democrats & liberals/faceless
bureaus/perambulating alien machines from H. G. Wells
loose and running about/fornicating/pontificating/
kissing and making up/writing bad prose; it
might lead to dancing/sex/orgasms/bondage and
domination/evil/fun/green-skinned Orion slave girls
seducing starship captains/pogo sticks/trade deficits. :-)
And in order to ensure liberty for unborn babies to grow
up and be militia, doctors, and rocketmen -- all needed in
today's patriotic military against the evil oppressors,
bad music, and ICBMs in today's post-communism world --
women should be glad to give up their civil liberties and
be spied on to ensure that every conceived baby is a dead
mother...erm, wait, every dead baby...no no, wait...every
baby will be healthy and happy, and the mother will only
have to pay a small price, namely, her life [*]. But it's
worth it, right?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.
(Besides, why would I want to control her body? I'm lucky
if I can control my own [+], although I at least might have
a say where my sperm are going on occasion. Influence,
maybe. Suggest, yes. Interact with, definitely, if only
via vibrating air, modulated electrons, or signboards
written in a foreign language and held up for viewing at a
very far distance, depending on how much she likes me.
But not control.)

An interesting term, considering that many women are probably
a little too busy to be concerned with finding another body
with which to have a relationship nowadays. Are the Republicans
next going to start arranging marriages or something?
