Arlington burial rejected for Holocaust survivor advocate |
Personally, I don't see what the difference is what you do with the remains
but if there's room for the body at Arlington and it makes the family happy,
why not let him be buried there? It's not going to make the other people
buried there any better or worse off.

Arlington burial rejected for Holocaust survivor advocate
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Army has rejected an appeal to have a leading
advocate for Holocaust survivors buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Abraham Klausner's family was told Monday that his remains may be
stored at the cemetery if he's cremated, but the Army says his brief service
as an Army chaplain did not qualify him to receive full burial honors.
His daughter, Robin Pressman, says cremation violates Jewish
traditions.
Klausner was a rabbi who was the first Jewish chaplain from the Army
to enter the Dachau concentration camp after it was liberated in 1945. He
was 92 when he died last Thursday night at his Santa Fe home.
He'll be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

There are strict requirements for burial at Arlington.

Arlington is our premeir National Cemetary, and space is limited.

The strictest requirement is not even mentioned in that link.
You have to be dead.

They're already running out of room for American soldiers that want in there,
much less somebody like your suggested candidate.
Even now, the reservations have some minimal officer level.
