ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: Hate filled Christian |
California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER has been branded a sexist
again - after mocking pre-menstrual stress during a shocking live radio
interview.
The actor-turned-politician sparked outrage last year when he called
his Democrat rivals "girlie men".
And he fuelled his reputation as a misogynist last night when he told
outspoken DJ HOWARD STERN he wanted to remove the moon, to prevent the
mood swings women suffer before their monthly periods.
Schwarzenegger explained, "If we get rid of the moon, women, whose
menstrual cycles are governed by the moon, will not get PMS. They will
stop bitching and whining."
DAWN GIBSON, a horrified listener of the show, complains, "He is
appealing to the lowest common denominator."

I've always considered California as a pretty liberal state, but
Arnold seems to be pretty conservative as of late, from what I can

I don't know how long it takes. I expect it varies greatly, as periods
vary greatly woman to woman. Twenty-eight days is just an average
figure, not a biological constant. But college roommates usually end up
with their periods coinciding.

menstruate during the full moon. They ostensibly based their opinion
on the "fact" (and I use the word advisedly) that women who go on
prolonged out-doorsy adventures tend to do the same thing.
It is a well-established fact, however, that groups of women who are>
close will eventually experience their menstrual cycles at the same
time.
This idea has pretty much been shown false.
from Strassmann's 1999 paper, "Menstrual Synchrony Pheremones: Cause for
Doubt," an Opinion in the journal Human Reproduction:
"Popular belief in menstrual synchrony stems from a misperception about how
far apart menstrual onsets should be for two women whose onsets are
independent. Given a cycle length of 28 days (not the rule -- but an
example), the maximum that two women can be out of phase is 14 days. On
average, the onsets will be 7 days apart. Fully half the time they should
be even closer (Wilson, 1992; Strassmann, 1997). Given that menstruation
often lasts 5 days, it is not surprising that friends commonly experience
overlapping menses, which is taken as personal confirmation of menstrual
synchrony."

That might be relevant if the original research hadn't shown that women
put into the same living area start with independent cycles that MOVE
TOWARD being synchronized, & stay synced. It had nothing to do with
random overlaps, which suggests that the above explanation came out of
Strassmann's *****.
