I listened to part of a call in show on assisted suicide today. I turned it
off because I was driving and was starting to cry.
One woman summed it all up. She had assisted both her mother and father who
dies of the same type of brain cancer.
She described their condition, their horrible pain and suffering, their
convulsions, then she said "What are you supposed to do? Give them more
jello?"
I've lost two friends to cancer, on was "only" colon cancer and just
horribly painful.
The other was a throat cancer, more pain and the fear than you might choke
to death with your next attempt to swallow.
The drugs didn't have any effect for a long time.

I feel your pain, Mike. My grandmother had blood, bone, lung, and eye
cancer. The doctors said that they couldn't believe how much cancer was
ravaging her body.
Finally, she went into the hospital unable to breathe on her own.
Being a Christian, she was heard to frequently cry out, "Why won't God
take me?!?!"
She finally died with my father by her side (my father the Atheist; the
other two brothers weren't there...both Christians) in torturous
suffering because "God" wouldn't take her.
I only wish that she could've died sooner so that her suffering wasn't
as long and drawn out... :-(

Yeah, I just had a friend die of throat cancer. I'm sorry for your
loss.
