Why do you define yourself as an agnostic and not as an atheist?

[atheism
Atheism is traditionally defined as disbelief in the existence of God.
As such, atheism involves active rejection of belief in the existence
of God.
However, since there are many concepts of God and these concepts are
usually rooted in some culture or tradition, atheism might be defined
as the belief that a particular word used to refer to a particular god
is a word that has no reference. Thus, there are as many different
kinds of atheism as there are names of gods.]

No, if you lack belief in any gods, you are an atheist. If you reject the
idea it is possible to "know" things without evidence and reason to
back them up you're agnostic (ala Huxley at least). I both lack belief and
reject that believers "know" the things they claim which they cannot back
them up with evidence and reason. Hence, I'm agnostic atheist.
There never has been any actual conflict between atheism and agnosticism.
They're about two different things. One is about belief, the other about
knowledge.

Agnostisims is the best. It says not only that we don't know about God, but
also that human cannot ever know about God.
I used to be a strict Atheist until a some one told me, "Ya know, saying for
sure that there is no God is basically the same as saying for sure there is
a God." Don't know where he got it from but he changed me from Atheist to
Agnostic in about 3 minutes.
Think about it...

no way. I don't say there is no god even if I have no proof of this.
I say:
you claim that something you call god exists.
ok, I can accept that.
Now, if you want me to believe in what you say show me your god, or at
least prove it somehow.
you can't do it so why should I believe in what you say?
therefore I don't believe in what you call god.
AFAIK agnostic are more philosophers than atheists ang go forward in
searching for a reason to this fantasy someone invented.
I don't care about it, they do. It's ok.

Except that atheism is simply lacking belief in any gods. So if you don't,
right now, have a positive belief in one or more gods, you're still an
atheist...

Think about your own strawman.
Then think about the fact that atheists haven't anything to be
agnostic about.
And then think about the fact that the theist's god-premise sdoesn't
even apply outside the theist''s own theism.
Finally think instead of regurgitating such stupidity.

none of them.
the best thing one could do is to think with his own head.
I'm really ***** of your attacking the agnostics.
I'm an atheist like you but I don't give a damn about what other people
think.
You think that the christian god doesn't exist, well, the agnostics
think this too.
They just say that they can't tell whether the universe was created or not.
I don't care about this since there is no evidence and there are more
relevant things than the beginning of the universe in my life, but you
insist claiming that the creation can't be possible even if you have no
proof!
They are right when they say you have some kind of belief/religion.
How comes that you need to spread your truth all over the world?
doesn't this remember you something?
They are not trying to convert you to agnosticism, they are OK with your
atheism so, what's the problem?
Do you really need the whole world to say that you're right?
isn't it enough for you to be free of thinking whatever you want to?
