Atheism origin |
It seems that some people, faced with a concept they cannot understand,
opt to reject it. But there are some facts that we cannot possibly
reject, like the existence of infinite space, infinite time, and
infinite numbers, which are clearly beyond our grasp. These facts
provide us with a justification to accept concepts we do not
understand.

God made us free. We can do whatever we want. The commandments are
just good advice a good father gives to his children to make things
easier for them. We don't have to mind them, but sometimes, for not
doing it, the price we pay is a bit too high.
Explain to the raped and murdered child how God is a "good father".
It's
easier to believe there is no god than that such a monster created us.
God gave us intelligence and it is up to us to use to try to understand
some things.
You're assuming your conclusion. Please prove this god exists before
continuing. Thank you.

It is in the Bible.
Yes, yes.
And the bible is nothing more then a book. A book of blood, murder,
rape, mayhem, lies, bigotry, and false promises. A book that has been
used down through the centuries to justify more blood and more hate then
any thousand books put together. A book that believers pick and choose
what they want from, to fit their own deluded sense of importance and
arrogant self worth.
Now, answer the womans' question stupid. How do YOU know this god of

Assuming that what you say about the bible is correct, have you thought
why would somebody write such a book to try to deceive a lot of people?
If you tried to deceive people, would you write that? It couldn't have
been to convince people to vote for him/them; in those times people did
not vote for their rulers. Could have it been to have a literary best
seller and make a bundle? They had not invented the press yet. and
couldn't have sold a lot of copies, besides hardly anyone knew how to
read. What was the purpose of writing the bible? It cannot have been
written by an idiot, among other things, there is in it great wisdom
and truth. The bible was written in very old languages and has been
translated again and again. How do you know the translations were
faithful?
Peter
One: You're still dodging the question. How do YOU know this god of
yours is not material.
Because He said so. It is in the Bible.
The bible is a book of mythology. She asked how do YOU know?
Two: To answer your question you should really study up on church
history. It was written by a bunch of power hungry control freaks that
needed some stupid document to justify their lust for power. Even
today, that damnable book is used to justify massive amounts of hate,
blood, bigotry and yes, in some cases even murder.
We cannot blame the Bible for what some people do with it.
Sure I can, it's easy. If the damned thing had never been written, the
world would be a much happier place. If more people like me would
spread the knowledge that its a pile of crap, and people would listen,
we would be in a happier position as well.
And just to show you I am not limited in my disgust over the bible, the
same can be said about the koran, the vedas, and all sacred text that
have been used through out history to justify mans inhumanity to man.
Your book of blood is not unique.
As history clearly records, for more then 1600 years, it was a death
sentence to question that filthy book. And as you so clearly point
out, since most of the population of the time did not read, and the
church did what they could to keep people from reading, it was a simple
matter to threaten and control, using a collection of lies as justification.
You are right, people have done that. Even now, you know that in some
countries people can be killed if they renounce their faith or
critizice its leaders. But we cannot blame the Bible for this.
See above, I sure can blame the stupid thing. I also do blame the
people that follow it blindly, like the individual you see every morning
when you're bushing your teeth.
You know, that person in the bathroom mirror.

You don't know what you are talking about. You don't know how things
were before God revealed himself. They were much, much worse.
So the examples in the bible of "God" killing everybody in a tiff, or
killing all the first-born, or inventing laws like kill disobedient
children and adulterers and people who work on the wrong day, those are
examples of how much BETTER things are after "god" reveals itself?

How do YOU know this god of
yours is not material?

Assuming that what you say about the bible is correct, have you thought
why would somebody write such a book to try to deceive a lot of people?
Yes.
If you tried to deceive people, would you write that? It couldn't have
been to convince people to vote for him/them; in those times people did
not vote for their rulers. Could have it been to have a literary best
seller and make a bundle? They had not invented the press yet. and
couldn't have sold a lot of copies, besides hardly anyone knew how to
Arguments from your personal incredulity mean absolutely zero.
read. What was the purpose of writing the bible? It cannot have been
written by an idiot, among other things, there is in it great wisdom
and truth.
Utter *****.
Any wisdom in it is either trivial or stolen.
But I don't expect a scholarly exchange on biblical writings from the
likes of a demonstrated ignoramus.
The bible was written in very old languages and has been
translated again and again. How do you know the translations were
faithful?
Because I have read ALL of it in the original languages that it was
translated from.
Old and New Testaments, peripheral documents, original scraps etc.
You have just blown your own arguments entirely out of the water, if
all you have read of the bible are recent English versions.
But I doubt that you have read much of any bible, Hebrew, Greek or
English. Your biblical knowledge is utterly abysmal.
Even for a 9 year old, let alone a 90 year old.

God made us free. We can do whatever we want. The
commandments
are
just good advice a good father gives to his children to
make
things
easier for them. We don't have to mind them, but
sometimes,
for
not
doing it, the price we pay is a bit too high.
Explain to the raped and murdered child how God is a "good
father".
It's
easier to believe there is no god than that such a monster
created
us.
God gave us intelligence and it is up to us to use to try to
understand
some things.
You're assuming your conclusion. Please prove this god exists
before
continuing. Thank you.

It is in the Bible.
And you know that everything in the bible is true because..........?
Because it says so in the bible.
And so on in ever decreasing circles...
--
...until it disappears into the black hole of a fundy brain from which
nothing intelligent ever escapes.
Is that what the Pope means when he talks about Mass?
The dense mass that forms the fantasy prone mind of the fundy.
So dense that no illumination ever arises from it?

You got it!
I hope it's not contagious.

Generally not when the cognitive functions have come on line and there's
been a modicum of education.
