Object: Atheist Books - Absent From the San Diego Library
I was at the library last week and I checked to see if they had Dan Barker's
"Losing Faith in Faith" or Doug Kruger's "Atheism: An Introduction" and they
didn't. Is this typical? Why aren't these books in the library?

Jason

I just checked the online catalog for both the City and County
libraries and, you know what, Jason?
I couldn't find YOUR e-book, either!

Seems to me, Jason, that this is something you should be asking those
responsible within the Library system.
It's possible, of course, that some fundamentalist successfully lobbied
to have them removed.
Hey, one rhetorical turn deserves another, right?
But tell me, Jason - why were you looking for Barker's book?
Oh, THAT'S right! You didn't read it before you presumed to
"interview" him.

It's not unlikely. Pagans have overheard people like Gastrich say -
while in the checkout line at the library - that the fine for not
returning "Spiral Dance" was worth it to get that book out of the
library.

Yes, that does happen, but the books don't appear in the card catalog,
either.
In fairness to Jason, and even though this isn't really the place to
ask, I'm thinking he wanted to know why they presumably aren't carried
at all.
It was rhetorical, of course. He has some purpose in asking.
But I don't think we'll ever see what it was, since it was really a
stupid question to begin with.

San Diego is one of the more religious cities in California. I attended
Dan Barker's FFRF convention there one year. I bought a T-shirt and wore
it around town. Oh, the looks I got....

Because people like you don't want them there. They consider it a bad
influence for their offspring. It might lead them to think.
They have been replaced by titles as 'Evolution, a myth" and "Creation

Let us know the URL of the computer so we can check too, okay? Maybe we can
find it if it's there. I KNOW Dan Barker's book was there in 1992, I know,
because I am the one who donated it in behalf of the Truth Seeker. If it
isn't there I will be a little miffed. Send us the URL you use to search the

A direct call may be more productive. Between one and five tomorrow call
1-619-236-5800 and ask if they have Dan Barker's book. I may try myself, to
see if the book was ever logged and put on the shelf. I KNOW they had a copy
of it because I gave it to them.

No. entirely wrong! He strangled a goat, burned the fat to please the
LOARDS. The neighbors got so sick of the pleasing stench they did the
search for "doctor" Jason, just to get rid of the pleasing stench.
You see, the LOARDS work in mysterious ways. (So does Tracy Loard, I'm
