Object: Atheists acting like theists
A study in real time. Pff... let us see how atheists are eager about
their beliefs just like theists. What is a difference between an atheist
and a theist? Ones do not believe in God, others do. That is the only
difference. Ones can't stand the words 'I believe in God', others can't
stand the words 'I don't believe in God'. Narrow minded? Dumb?
Just humans who don't know jack *****? I guess the ***** spills on both
sides. Stupidity on both sides of the river. Atheists hate theists, and theists
hate atheists. Ones keep telling the others that they do not hate, that they
'love' and 'understand' and all that crap. Atheism is just another religion.
But I pity the religion which is based on humans.
Now, let's see how atheists react to a simple question. They seem to be
pretty reasonable! Don't you think? At least a tad more reasonable than
theists. Or maybe not?
ACIM student wrote:

A spiritual being that could be called our higher nature
that sees things and perceives things in a different way
than regular human experience... but is not responsible
for the physical world.

Answer 1:
Perhaps if you could explain what a "spiritual being" is...then we
might be able to tell you whether or not we believe in it.
My guess is that the short answer to your question is "no"
Jim
Answer 2:
Unless you mean "spiritual being" in some sort of metaphorical sense,
I'd say the answer to your question was "No."
Answer 3:
As I have no idea what you mean by "higher nature" or "spiritual" I cannot
answer your specific question, but speaking for myself I do not believe that
anything exists beyond what we can observe or infer using empirical methods.
JPG
Answer 4:
Why should we?
Is there any reason to conclude this? Or even postulate it?
Answer 5:
No. You would need to show that nonphysical beings exist. The
"responsibility" has nothing to do with my disbelief. Good luck.
Answer 6:
Nope. Falls into the same category as gods and other mythical deities.
Answer 7:
Sorry but I don't think it would be rational to believe this
without some evidence and even some explanation of what it is.
'Higher nature'? Wassat then?
Since it is your idea, perhaps you could elaborate on it.
Sorry but at the moment it just looks like nonesense.
Answer 8:
No, of course I don't believe in that. There's no evidence that "spiritual
beings" exist.
Answer 9:
What do you mean by "spiritual being" and "higher nature"?
Those terms mean nothing to me.
Answer 10:
Do you believe in leprechauns and fairies?
Answer 11:
Higher, by what standard? And what do you mean by "see" and "perceive"?
How do we explain such reactions? Insanity? Stupidity? I say both.
What are atheists? Just people who want to have some fun and not caring
about the consequences. That's about it. Oh yes, atheists are people who just
want to have sex. Hahahahahahahaha...
And the sad fact is; atheists think that they are different than theists JUST
because they don't believe in God. Oh, how are they wrong... how do I know?
Atheists told me. Thank you.
PS.
Yes, it IS funny how atheists actually DO blame this 'god' thing for all the bad
things that happen around us. They do say 'how can we blame god if we dont
believe in god', sure, no problem. But don't be fooled by their words. Atheists
DO believe in god. (and I don't mean the regular 'god' that church preaches).
Atheist ARE aware of God's existance. They DO know and DO see God.
It's just they do not support God. That's about it.
And yes... atheists they say 'it is not God, it's humans'. Atheists are COOL,
aren't they? Conclusions such as 'people are guilty' are really awesome and
'progressive'. For a 10 year old.
And don't forget. Atheists are just humans. Thus; they know jack *****. And as
long as they hate others, they are no better than those 'others'. And atheists
DO hate theists.

It's been so long since I've seen Agent, I don't recall. But if you can
find a way to killfile based on the message id, the "x-privat.org" shows
up in every message from that server.
I did run across this interesting little program (Windows only) that
appears to be a proxy that can do more sophisticated filtering. Can't
"recommend" it as I don't do Windows and can't try it out but I did get
the name of the program off the Agent Usenet ng.
http://www.nfilter.org/
I found people recommending Nfilter and discussing how to kill by various
headers over in:
alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent
Might be worth a try...

Not quite as dumb as taking the dictionary definition of Atheist and

That's your theory.

sorry.

Don't apologize for our actions.

And you are eagerly defending it,

People defend lots of things. People attack lots of things. Atheism
is a position on the existence of gods. People attack that position;
atheists sometimes defend that position. It's called argument. What
exactly is the problem with that?

just like theists defend their religions.

Ideas exist to be debated rigorously, and hopefully honorably.
You seem not to understand the notion of honorable argument and would
rather make ***** up to attack atheism and atheists with.
Meanwhile you seem to refuse to hang your own ***** on the line by
actually stating your *own* position with regard to the existence of
gods. I suppose it would be no fun trying to defend it.
Better to just hide in the darkness and shoot impotent spitballs.

I have been told that many atheists are much better persons, and are much
more honest than any theist could EVER be.

Well, some might have said that, but they are basing their conclusion
about theists on a subjective sample, just as YOU are basing your
conclusions about atheists from a similarly subjective sample... and
making up a phony theory on that conclusion.

That was what I was reffering to.

Fine. Have fun with that.

Insult? man, you said you were 41 yrs old? And you get so easily insulted?

Insulting is an act performed on another. It has to do with the intent
of the act, not the character of the one being acted upon.
Insults can vary in potence, depending on several variables. In this
case, your insults carry as much power as a butterfly sneeze.

WHERE is your experience? Your wisdom? Haven't you learned by now, old dude?

I've learned when I'm being ranted at by a loon. And I am now.

There is only one God.

So says your theory, anyway.

You know it.

I don't know it; I don't believe it. That's why I'm an atheist.

To say that you believe in God is not to say much. For all I know,
you've named your pet goldfish God and that's what you believe in.

That is your problem, not mine.

It's not mine, either.

Im definitely sure that I dont have a goldfish, and even if I did I
wouldn't name it God. Let alone believe that my goldfish is God Himself.

Then that's at least one thing that you don't consider to be God. At
least you're narrowing it down a bit.

What more do you want?

This isn't about what I want.

Then what?

You're the one who asked me what I want. (Hint: three lines up)

that. Your lack of focus here betrays your general lack of clear
thinking throughout this thread. I was pointing this out, not in an
attempt to enforce some kind of rule, but to highlight the way your
thoughts have no keel.

Second, said lack of religion is preferable in my mind to one that is
based on fuzzy thinking, gobbledygook, and empty threats, all of which
seem to dwell at the heart of every religious idea you are trying to
assert.

Threats? I am not threating you. I am not your president, I am not
police, I am not your government. Sorry m8. Opression comes from
other 'sources', not this one. Sorry.

One need not have power to try to threaten.

I am not threating you. Sorry. Don't lie.

Fine. So not believing won't hurt me. Ever.

So: You can take your meaningless abstractions (spiritual being, higher
nature) and obvious lies...er, I mean, misstatements about atheists
(blaming a god they don't believe in, hating said god, hating other
people) and savor their foulness in your own deluded corner of Usenet.

YOU DO hate other people.

I hate nobody... at least not for long. My hate is difficult to be
inflamed, and vanishes quickly. It's a transient feeling.

But it is there. Don't deny it.

Not right now, it's not.

EVERYBODY hates everybody.

That's your theory.

Oh come on, are you really that dumb?

Are you? I'm not going to play your game.

It is NOT a nice thing to say,

It is NOT a particularly true thing to say, either.

Yes it is.

Such is your theory.

but that's how it is.

Well, that's your theory.

Nope. That's how it is. Don't lie dude. It is not nice.

But it's how it is.

And since we are NOT mere animals,

There's nothing "mere" about animals.

Oh yes yes... so you do believe that humans are animals
and nothing more?

Again with the belittling of animals. Why do you do so?

Oh my, oh my, oh my... brainwashed society. Brainwashed by science!

Hey, animals have formed societies and practiced science, we've found
out. To limited degrees, of course, but they've certainly done so.
As to being brainwashed, that's yet another theory of yours.

as science would like to assert, we, humans,
should fight it.

Should fight what?

Animal inside you. Can you comprehend that? Or are you
really stoopid?

Again... I'm pretty much animal, inside and out, so what's there to fight?

And since you atheists don't find anything worth fighting
for...

Another theory?

Ok, then WHAT do atheist fight for?

Ask each one. There are atheists in Iraq fighting for a perceived goal
of democratization. There are atheists here fighting the policies that
put those atheists in Iraq in the first place. There are atheists
fighting other atheists after having a pint too many in a pub.

my conclusion would be;

Setting aside the fact that you need a primer in English usage and
punctuation... your conclusion could not be less developed than
one-hour old wine made from grape leaves.

Sorry. My english is bad. If you weren't an *****, you wouldn't be
reffering to my english. Sorry. Am not English nor American.

My comments about your English were secondary. I was primarily
commenting about your conclusion, which, as I said, is even less
developed than one-hour old wine made from grape leaves.

you are just fine by being mere animals,

Again, there's nothing "mere" about animals.

How come?

You seem to have a low view of animals. How come?

and you don't want, and don't have the strenght to fight the 'animal
inside you'.

It's not just inside; it's us in our entirety.

Wouldn't you like that, right?

I find it to be true. Nothing to like or not to like; it's just a
fact, as far as I'm concerned.

Did you know that nazis believed is such things?

They also understood gravity enough to build planes.
Just because people are so very wrong about some things, that doesn't
mean that they aren't right about a few others.

We are animals.

Yup.

Only the strongest survive. And other Darwin *****?

Actually, Darwin didn't even believe that "Only the strongest survive."
And neither do I.

Ok, not ALL is *****, but most of it, it is.

Quote me one passage actually written by Darwin that is ***** in
your opinion.

So tell me, oh great big giant head

You must have seen me in person at some point. As it turns out I wear
an extra large hat, which is odd since my stature (height/build) is
'round about average.

Hat? What for?

On the rare occasions I wear a hat, it's to protect my head.

of 655321, how IS atheism better than theism?

I judge it to be the more resonable position to hold with regard to the
question of the existence of any gods.

I didn't ask you about existance of god,

But atheism is only definable in this world by its relationship to the
question of the existence of gods.

I was asking you in general! WHAT makes YOU, ATHEISTS, better than THEISTS?

Look up about three sentences. That's not what you asked. Here are
your words:

of 655321, how IS atheism better than theism?

Is that clear enough?

COme on... don't be a word twister all your life 655...

I'm just a word READER. Use the right words; get the right result.
Plus... I *DO* anwer your "real" question later.

Just cause you say 'there is no God'? THAT makes you better?

I didn't say that *I* was better than anyone else, even theists... that
would be an egotistical position. I just said that I find atheism to
be the better position with regard to all of the god-claims I'm
confronted with.

Come on dude, what the fck are you talking about?

I'm answering your question. You asked me if I felt I was better than
theists. I said no.

I didn't ask you whether you believe or not in God, I asked you WHAT makes you
atheists better than theists, IN GENERAL!

And I said that I don't think that atheists *are* better, not just
because they *are* atheists. I think that what makes a person more or
less "good" is a complex matrix of various elements of behavior, and
belief in a god has little bearing, if any.

Hm... I doubt it!

Me, too.

WHAT do you doubt? Apart from God.

I doubt that you understand what I'm saying. I doubt that your
reaction to my post will be anything other than yet another string of
insulting misinterpretations of what I've said.
That's what I doubt.

Ok, old dude, I guess you have more spare time than me, otherwise
you wouldn't spend so much time in answering to my posts. I know
yer technique; trying to wear me off. That's fine. I like weasels a lot!
Now, if you can get so easily insulted, than I must say you have
NO wisdom, and you have NO life experience... sorry old man,
but it's enough for one day.
I have seen, from your remarks, that you are aware of God,
but you just don't support him, it, whatever it is... when you are
alone, in yer room, and when you start questioning the meaning
of life, when you start searching inside yourself, you get answers,
but you are too scared to face them. So, you ignore. And yes,
you DENY God. There is a difference in DENYING God and
merely NOT believing in God. So, till next time, old man, teach
yer kids what you have learned. But, beware... KIDS KNOW!
