How interesting that you say so. I know devout Christian, Jewish, and
Muslim gays and lesbians. Most Christians I know who deserve the
description would say that God loves all his children regardless of
whom they in turn love, and reserve any judgement in the matter for
God to make.
As for me, you're right that it could not possibly matter to me
whether another person loves someone of the same gender or the

nor breaks my leg. When I was a teenager and insecure about my own
sexuality, I (like most of my peers) made real and supposed gays into
objects of derision, to avoid contemplating what it would mean to be

longer felt any wish to denigrate others -- and in fact am now
horrified by the way in which gays are treated (inevitably by those
who are insecure about their own desires.)

childbirth has stopped being so dangerous. There's some irony in the
19th-century scientific misunderstandings that generated the early
anti-abortion movement, if you care to research it.
Nevertheless, again, there are many Christians who are pro-choice.
There are also atheists who do consider it wrong, or at least
questionable, to abort a fetus, at least once it has passed some
threshold of development (which is different for everyone --
personally, I don't like abortions that occur after there's
discernable brain activity, but I respect those who think
differently).

hm. The largest Christian sect in the world -- by an order of
magnitude -- opposes capital punishment in all cases. I personally
think that the world is no poorer if a vicious murderer dies at the
hands of the state. But I lack a godlike ability to discern exactly
who's a murderer and who's falsely accused of it, and must rely on
imperfect human institutions to make the determination -- and it is
known that those institutions sometimes get it wrong. I would like the
wrongness to be at least partly correctable. I am no worse off,
physically or morally, if a murderer is simply locked away for life
than if he is executed; but I am far better off, morally, if a
supposed murderer who later is determined to be innocent can be given
at least some of his life back.

Again, it's not atheists on one side and believers on the other. Many
atheists would find a wish to die, even in the face of great pain,
unfathomable. Enormous numbers of Christians support a right to die.

this is a belief of the 'atheist'.
I do think I understand Christianity reasonably well, and I've never
understood how a Christian could be willing to let human judgement sit
in place of God's, and condemn to death those they believe are
murderers. But perhaps, as Antonin Scalia said, Christians in favor
of the death penalty simply don't consider a sentence of death to be
any big deal, since it simply moves them on.
But then I don't understand how these same people could be
uncompromisingly against abortion or euthanasia -- the fetus might not
be a "human" yet, and if we're wrong, well, God will correct the error
and reward the fetus with a rich afterlife, right? What harm has been
done that God cannot correct? And perhaps those who want to die
really should -- who are we to say they are wrong? If we send them to
God but God meant for them to live, the afterlife shall make all
wrongs right, won't it? I mean, in your philosophy.
As I say, I'm not particularly fond of any of them -- abortion, death
penalty, or euthanasia. Nor of wars of aggression, for that matter,
which some Christians (and Muslims and Jews) seem to be particularly
fond of these days. As a human being, I think killing human beings is
a bad thing. This has to be balanced against other possible
injustices or wrongs, of course, and everyone -- even different sects
of Christianity -- draw the lines in different places. Since I don't
have a minister providing me with his received wisdom on what is to be
right or wrong, but instead have to figure it out for myself, I don't
come to all the same conclusions that some Christians do. But then
again, not all Christian sects come to the same conclusion on any of
it either.

First of all, you're making a generalization on behalf of all
atheists. The atheistic doctrine only denounces the belief in god and
says nothing about a moral code, therefore leaving open the
possibility of an atheist leading a life of complete wrecklessness to
an atheist who may believe in the same things you would agree to
(minus god's influence). I can see your point by saying that virtually
all atheists would be pro-abortion, etc., but you should realize that
there are declared Christians who believe in the same things (ie the
majority of the Democratic Party). Maybe you should reword your phrase
"atheists, the biggest fools on the face...." to "liberals, the
biggest fools on the face..", that way you can attack and let more
people know how much of a douche bage you are.
I know that you're probably too stuck up to even consider a statement
from someone who is bound to be eternally burning in the lake of fire,
but if you're such a devout believer shouldnt you be out in Africa
converting some starving children?

Yes, the non-religious do this also. But the big difference being that the
non-religious knows he's doing an evil thing, and will do it out of spite

convinced they're doing 'god's work', and the religious community will
praise him for it.
