Attack Iran Now |

Aye, that's precisely what I'd expect you'd do. You'd take a single, if
devastating, terrorist attack against your country and use it to rationalise
extinguishing every complex lifeform on the planet. Because you wouldn't
have the political courage to say "we shouldn't launch".
What then would be your course of action?
PS- A few nukes isn't going to end "every complex lifeform on the
planet".
If we allow countries like Iran to have a nuke, we invite just
such a scenario.
YOU already have nukes. How long can you be trusted not to use them again?
Judging by your comments here, I'd say you'd find reason eventually.
The US had a monopoly on nukes at one time. Riddle me this, Mr.
Wizard, why
didn't we just take over the world with the threat of nuclear
annihilation?
Which precisely demonstrates what I said: your
extremist nationalism overrides your basic humanity, because you'd be quite
happy to obliterate every human on Earth just to prove your point.
No I wouldn't. I *would*, however, kill every muslim....Or every god
believer
for that matter, in order to preserve my country.
I don't see any presbyterians flying planes into buildings or any
buddhists
detonating car bombs. No...Plain and simple, the scourge of islam
must
be wiped from the face of the earth.
Fortunately, I've yet to be convinced that every American - or even most -
would take such a blinkered view.
And that's exactly why we're going to get hit again so hard that we'll
be
forced to retaliate with nukes. If we stand together now, we can
prevent this
from happening. If we bow to external pressures we will fail.

You cannot qualify war in harsher terms than I will. War is cruelty,
and you cannot refine it; and those who brought
war into our country deserve all the curses and maledictions a people
can pour out. -W.T. Sherman

No, you're right. But you seem to have this happy fluffy idea that it'll
all stop at a 'few' nukes. I'm not sure where you get that idea from.
The US had a monopoly on nukes at one time. Riddle me this, Mr.
Wizard, why
didn't we just take over the world with the threat of nuclear
annihilation?
Because the people in charge then had enough brains to know that it'd be a
Bad Thing. During the Cold War, when your monopoly was eclipsed by the
Soviet arsenal, both the US and the USSR were run by people with just enough
brains to know that pressing the button would be a Bad Thing. For the
moment it looks as though, whatever else can be said about them, the US
administration haven't quite managed to delude themselves into thinking
otherwise. This is why it's a Good Thing that you're not president.
No I wouldn't. I *would*, however, kill every muslim....Or every god
believer for that matter, in order to preserve my country.
*Every god believer*. Not merely those who pose a threat to your country:
every single one. The view of a violent extremist, if ever there was one.
Rationalised, of course, by your supposed love of your country: nationalism
being easily as convenient an excuse for savagery as religion ever was.
I don't see any presbyterians flying planes into buildings or any
buddhists detonating car bombs.
No, indeed: and yet you would exterminate *every god believer*, regardless.
No...Plain and simple, the scourge of islam must
be wiped from the face of the earth.
You can differentiate - supposedly - between the religion you hate and the
ones you don't know all that much about; but you seem unable to make the
finer distinction between those members of a single religious category who
threaten you and the far greater number who do not. Like any extremist, you
see in simplistic, black-and-white terms, and you don't trouble yourself
overmuch with detail.
And that's exactly why we're going to get hit again so hard that we'll
be forced to retaliate with nukes.
Retaliate against who, and what, that's big enough to warrant the use of
nukes? The rest of the world can but pray that when a small group
representing a tiny faction do decide to strike you again - and I agree they
probably will, sooner or later - that your country is governed by someone
with a little more nous than you.
If we stand together now, we can
prevent this from happening.
No, you can't. If someone wants to hit you, then they'll hit you. The
question is whether you respond in an intelligent and constructive manner,
or whether you simply lash out blindly and alienate all those who might
otherwise have stood by you. You seem to forget the speed with which Bush -
in striking out to satisfy the vengefulness of people like you - frittered
away the support and the sympathy of the entire world (even in the Middle
East): sentiment that a wiser leader might have moulded into something
beneficial to America. But of course, had that happened he wouldn't have
been able to rely on the willingness of people like you to terrorise
themselves, and so submit to the fear that makes you so easy to control.
