If you feel as Neil does, that I have misrepresented you or been
unfair to you by quoting you in my posts. Then each of you start their
own thread with your reply to the post in question and ask me to
insert the link in any archived post I use that mentions you so you
can have your rebuttal included.

So what's the word on moving to Texas? No go?
Yep, a definite NG. That was decided while we were there a couple of weeks
ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought I was going to be, but as my husband put
it, it was "special enough" to make us want to uproot ourselves and move
half-way across the country - Not to mention dragging my mother with us
<shudder>. And the weather would have killed me. When I read that on
average it was in the 90s about 96 days out of the year, I knew there was NO
WAY I could live there.
What's worse is it's not even a dry heat. At least it's not as bad as
Houston.

In our case, the river is fifteen miles down 59, and we're about midway

water in it to flood us three miles away, it'll be time to start looking for
someone putting animals on a boat, two by two...

Same here. The Colorado is close but the way the land is, it'd have a
looong way to climb before I'd be worrying.
And before that would happen, we could all stand on the bridge and laugh
as the state legislature (and governor hair) bob by on their way to the
ocean...

So what's the word on moving to Texas? No go?
Yep, a definite NG. That was decided while we were there a
couple of weeks ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought I was going
to be, but as my husband put it, it was "special enough" to make
us want to uproot ourselves and move half-way across the country
- Not to mention dragging my mother with us <shudder>. And the
weather would have killed me. When I read that on average it
was in the 90s about 96 days out of the year, I knew there was
NO WAY I could live there.
What's worse is it's not even a dry heat.
And I dealt with that for 6 years in Gainesville, FL. Forget it. I
could never go back to that again. I mean it gets like that up here
in Joisey, but only for a couple of days at a time - Not weeks on
end.
At least it's not as bad as Houston.
Yeah, I've heard that's really brutal.
Hey, we do have AC! (And cheaper electricity to run them with)
But I didn't want to be stuck in the house all the time! That's one
of the main reasons why I left Florida! Well, that and the
rednecks.....and the lack of seasons.........and it was too
flat...........and............... ;)
Hey, Texas has seasons. Here comes another one now...
Down here at this end of 290, we've got three every year: summer,
July, and August. (Only 89 days until the hockey season...)
Oh come on, three? You know there's only drought and OHSHITTHERIVER...
In our case, the river is fifteen miles down 59, and we're about midway
between Buffalo Bayou and Bray's Bayou - and if either of them has
enough water in it to flood us three miles away, it'll be time to start
looking for someone putting animals on a boat, two by two...
Same here. The Colorado is close but the way the land is, it'd have a
looong way to climb before I'd be worrying.
Of course, you've got a few places up that way where the ground is higher than
it is in other places. Down here, it's a bit different.
And before that would happen, we could all stand on the bridge and laugh
as the state legislature (and governor hair) bob by on their way to the
ocean...
(Wonder if the state would get fined for dumping Republicans in the Gulf?)
Probably, but I wouldn't mind the chance to head over to Columbus and use
Governor Goodhair and the Legislooters for a little target practice.

Hmmm. 625 square feet of house, plus the attic and basement--
how *do* you feel about attics and basements? :)
Seriously, though, if you ever find yourself heading up to
Maine, do plan stop by for coffee (or tea, or whatever!) and
scones.

Great! We could have a wonderful time going through the
costumes, artwork, and so on. And I make really good scones.
I made some years ago - Can't really remember how they turned out ;)
Probably well enough. If they were really, really bad, you'd
remember, and if they were really, really good, you'd still be
making them. Maybe. :)

Here in Maine we have six seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn,
Early Winter, Mid Winter, and Late Winter. Alternately known as
Mud, Humidity, Leaf-peepers (We get swamped by tourists coming
see the maple leaves), Pretty Snow, Ugly Snow, and Slush.
Cool! I'm moving in with you! :)
Hmmm. 625 square feet of house, plus the attic and basement--
how *do* you feel about attics and basements? :)
Hmmm, well, I wasn't planning on bringing the hubby or kid. It just
might
work! ;)
It might. We're currently cleaning both out, too. :)
Seriously, though, if you ever find yourself heading up to
Maine, do plan stop by for coffee (or tea, or whatever!) and
scones.
I really do want to get up to Maine eventually. I would be sure to
look

LOL, I think they were okay. Unlike the first time I made Irish soda bread

LOL! Good one!
Sadly, I was not acquainted with the writings of Mr. Pratchett at that point
in time, otherwise I probably would have referred to it as that myself :)

Seriously, I'm heading to Maine the first part of August. Going on
our annual walkabout in Acadia National Park. Earl Grey or Chai would
be very pleasant.

Earl Grey, noted. And what sort of scone? Apricot is my
specialty. If you are serious, email me, and we'll see how it
works out.

So what's the word on moving to Texas? No go?
Yep, a definite NG. That was decided while we were there a
couple of weeks
ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought I was going to be, but as
my husband put
it, it was "special enough" to make us want to uproot ourselves
and move half-way across the country - Not to mention dragging
my mother with us <shudder>. And the weather would have killed
me. When I read that on average it was in the 90s about 96 days
out of the year, I knew there was NO
WAY I could live there.
What's worse is it's not even a dry heat.
And I dealt with that for 6 years in Gainesville, FL. Forget it.
I could never go back to that again. I mean it gets like that up
here in Joisey, but only for a couple of days at a time - Not
weeks on end.
Here in Maine we have six seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn,
Early Winter, Mid Winter, and Late Winter. Alternately known as Mud,
Humidity, Leaf-peepers (We get swamped by tourists coming see the maple

Heh, puts me in mind of Family Guy doing the "LEAFERS!!!!!!" bit...

Hey, I might have already asked you this, but our knucklehead real estate
agent said there's no Autumn in Texas - Leaves just die, turn brown and fall
off the trees. Oh and it starts to cool down a little. Is that true?
