It must be really tough being you. You operate by hatred and prejudice
and have no foundation in truth. Whatever I submit must be torn down
and disagreed with as to do otherwise would destroy your sense of ego.
Since you cannot tear down what I write about as false, you work to
tear down me.
But that will not work since my self worth is not based on what you or
anyone thinks of me as my self worth is based on truth. On and on you
go each day harboring hatred and destruction in your soul with no hope
for change. But there is hope for the hopeless...all you have to do is
take that first step in the opposite direction.
There is a method to our madness when it comes to rage or other
addictions and you can change.
We derive the following benefits from participating in our various
addictions - see what else applies to your efforts to escape the ugly
life you have created for yourself.
1) Pain Reliever
Addictions help distract us from our pain. Most of this pain is
generated from an endless cycle of wrong living that produces more
pain and requires more drugging through the application of our various
addictions to try and diminish the pain.
2 Pressure Relief
We use addictions to help blow off stream from stressed and unbalanced
life we live though overextending ourselves to the point of breaking
by living a lifestyle of "jugglers syndrome" and by having too many
irons in the fire.
3) Time Filler
The devil finds work for idle hands - Thoreau. Many time I have heard
an addict say they went to their addiction out of boredom cause they
had nothing else to do to pass time.
4) Escape Vehicle
Addictions make great escape vehicles to distract us from our problems
- most of what we have created for ourselves by living unbalanced
lives.
5) Pleasure Vehicle
As sensation addicts we like the sensation we get when we participate
in our addiction. It feels good to receive the brain chemicals or high
I get when I participate in my drug of choice. In short, if it feels
good I over do it and keep doing it until it turns into pain - then
and only then I know I need to stop.
6) Mystical or Religious Experience
Yes, our addiction is our religion. All our addictions have pleasure
aspects within them and we get rewards for participating in them in
the form of euphoric experiences. Euphoric experience can be related
to the spiritual as well. The definition of a religious mystic is one
that partakes in an altered state of conciseness with the spiritual
realm. Our addictions also give us this altered state of consciousness
and feeling of euphoria. So, we can say that our drugs are our gods
and our addiction is our religion. There is a reason to our madness -
it is not just pure madness as most addicts think.
7) Death Sentence
Finally, if all else fails - addictions are great killers and
destroyers of life. What benefit do we get from destruction? This is
good writing for your own inventory work.
And if you cannot find peace, you are free to be a slave to your
hatred as well as a slave to me by your compulsion to destroy anyone
that does not think as you do.

Nope, did that earlier ;)

The kid and I are being major bums today (George is off at the Yankee
game). I think it's going to be pretty much laundry and cartoons for
most of the day.

Sounds like this house. All this rain has my allergies being a pain which
is more what caused trouble for me sleeping than the Blaze clock going
off early. Took something for my allergy and meant to take a short nap.
It turned into a marathon and I'm still groggy.
So congested last night, I was probably snoring like my dad (who could
drown out jet engines). Woke up with a dry, sore throat.
Oh and then discovered the AC vent in the room (which needs to be
replaced) slipped again to blow right in my face...

Have I mentioned melatonin before? It's cheap and OTC. Isn't a "sleeping
pill", just helps trigger the sleep cycle. Subtle but helpful. Might be
worth keeping a bottle of low doseage around for insomnia bouts.

The best one I've found here concerned a hot water pipe in the
basement. It was drooping, even though being wired to one of
the joists. We'd take a few twists in the wire, and then a day
or too later it was drooping again. When we finally got a good
light on the wire, I found out why--it wasn't wire, it was
*solder*. I was gobsmacked. We've got the pipe fixed in place
with a proper bracket now. Cost less than a roll of solder,
too. Then there was the duct tape holding the flapping pieces
of sheet-rock together under the shower-surround...

LOL - We didn't have anything like that. It was just a lot of shoddy
cosmetics and cheapest products used, mainly. The one exception was the
wrong wood used to support the porch off of bedroom that was over the family
room. They'd converted the little one-car garage into a family room - I
think someone knew someone at the town hall and managed to put the thing up
without having to get it inspected. I was told by a workman who helped
replace the roof over the family room, there was no way it would have
passed. One thing that made my husband rant and rave when we first moved in
was the fact that they hung up everything, family pictures, etc., with huge
roofing nails ;)

Hey, that would work. What we found is that the previous owners with hang
the smallest little pictures with the largest nails possible. It was
totally bizarre. What made it worse (though in some ways more amusing) was
the fact that the previous owner was an architect. You'd think he'd know

.. (1 John 3:23 NASB)
23 This is His commandment, that we ?1??a?believe in ?b?the name
of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as ?c?He
?2?commanded us. [1]
§ 3:23 this is His commandment. The two parts of this commandment
parallel the two parts of the Ten Commandments, reminding us that our
relationship with God takes precedence over our relationship with our
neighbor. Faith in Christ relates us rightly to God, and His renewing grace
enables us to love one another.
[2]
3:23 God’s commandment is that we should believe on the name of His
Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment. This
seems to summarize all the commandments of the ?NT?. It speaks of our
duty to God and to our fellow Christians. Our first duty is to trust in the
Lord Jesus Christ. Then because true faith is expressed in right conduct, we
should love one another. This is an evidence of saving faith.
Notice in this and other verses that John uses the personal pronouns He and
Him to refer to both God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ without
stopping to explain which one is intended. He dares to do this because the
Son is as truly God as the Father, and it is no presumption to speak of
Them in the same breath.
[3]
In other words, John says, “Don’t say you believe on Him and then not love
one another.” With one breath you praise the Lord and say you trust the
Lord Jesus, but then you say how much you dislike So-and-so. John is not
talking about a love in which you just go up and put your arms around
someone; he’s not talking about a love that you just talk about. His love is
not in your lip or your language but in your life. It will be expressed in
genuine concern for the individual. You will not be gossiping about him.
You will not be hurting him in any way. But you will be concerned about
him. This is so desperately needed today. This is the Christian life in a
nutshell: “That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and
love one another, as he gave us commandment”.[4]
“Master,” they said, “what must we do to do the works of God?”
Jesus answered, “This is the singular work of God: That you believe on Him
whom the Father hath sent” (see John 6:28, 29).
[5]
GREATER THAN OUR HEARTS
John understood that it is common for some believers to have an overactive
conscience. In light of God’s high and holy command to love others as
Christ has loved us, believers may feel like terrible failures or even
hypocrites. This kind of self-condemnation, John wrote, should be met by
the truth that “God is greater than our hearts.” In other words, the all-wise
Lord above is aware that true believers, even though plagued by
inconsistency, still have an underlying desire to obey him in the challenge to
love others. The point of the passage? Don’t be overly hard on yourself,
and don’t let guilt overwhelm you. Instead of focusing on your failures,
focus on the Father who knows your deep desire to do what is right.
