FAMILIES FIND ALTERNATES TO HOLY BIBLE FOR SOLDIERS
Monday, November 22, 2004
http://www.kfdx.com/news/default.asp?mode=shownews&id=7031
Families have found something to send their loved ones who cannot
have
Bibles while serving in Iraq. Families of the troops from Fort Humbug,
Louisiana have found a way around that. Because Iraq is a Muslim country,
the Holy Bible is not allowed to be sent there. Tina Traylor says: "It is
disappointing that we can`t give them something so basic as a Bible,
something to inspire them, something to give them courage, give them faith,
give them peace and we can`t send it."
Despite the rule keeping Bibles out of Baghdad, some troops are still
wanting to remain religious. As a response, some local churches and even
some Christian bookstores are offering incentives to make sure the soldiers
remain spiritual.
At Lifeway Christian Bookstore in Shreveport, a 20% discount is
offered on `A Table in the Presence.` It chronicles the lives of a Marine
battalion on the front lines, facing death on a daily basis. The "Purpose
Driven Life," another inspiring book on life, is being sent as well.
For wives like Traylor though, it`s hard not to send something when
they want. Traylor`s husband was recently promoted to the rank of Captain.
She bought a monogrammed Bible as a gift, but now she has nowhere to send
it.
So far, the response has been overwhelming from both churches and
bookstores, playing an important role they never thought they would have in
the war on terror.
The families hope to send everything off Monday but will continue to
send the religious books throughout the year. The chaplain hopes to get a
copy to more than 1,000 troops and spread it throughout the region.

To justify their atrocities against humanity.

Well, they certainly can't look to their Commander in Chief for that, so

Besides Bibles provide an emergency supply of toilet paper.
