This afternoon we left New York and have arrived in Boston.
Yesterday was an incredible day. The weather in New York was sunny, but
not too warm. All the restaurant windows in Astoria were wide open, so that we
could follow the progress of the Greece-Portugal soccer final in Lisbon without
much effort.
After Greece had won 1-0, I told my friend Peter that they had won each
one of their last three games 1-0, assembling the number 111:
111 = 3 * 37
and I explained to Peter the secret meaning of the number 37.
This morning we had breakfast at the restaurant in the ground floor of
our hotel and the Greek owner showed us a photograph on p. 43 of today's "New
York Post", the post-game celebrations in Astoria.
Looking at the menu I saw the restaurant's telephone number, ending in
the digits 2888. I pointed out to Peter:
2 * 888 = 1776, the height in feet of the Freedom Tower that was founded
in New York yesterday, on the Fourth of July, at the site of the destroyed
World Trade Center.
Also:
888 = 8 * 111
All of us then went to Fifth Avenue, where the ladies hit Tiffany's and
the two of us guys went back to the Rockefeller Center cafe, under the statue
of Prometheus.
Our check at the cafe came to $48.88.
