This morning we visited Columbia University and NYU in the afternoon.
We were using the subway to get around and I was showing the kids how to
switch between train lines, local and express trains, etc.
In July 1970 I arrived in New York from Greece and stayed at the John Jay
dorm of Columbia for about one month. During that time I became familiar with
the neighborhood and I had a lot of fun showing the kids around there today.
Our friends Peter and Marisa and their two daughters are here, too, at
the same hotel, and we are making plans for the weekend.
We will be in New York, on this side of the Atlantic, on Sunday, the
Fourth of July, the birthday of New Atlantis, a.k.a. the USA, while Greece will
play Portugal in the Euro 2004 soccer final in Lisbon on Sunday, on the other
side of the Atlantic.
