Baptists might boycott public schools |
Yo. Check this one out:
http://www.news-record.com/news/local/homeschool_050604.htm
Wouldn't *that* be cool? Pulling millions of kids out of public schools,
making class sizes smaller, selecting by default kids whose parents want
them to learn real science and cutting back on the number of bleating
disruptions to the school program.
I say go for it. It could start a trend. {;-)

Schools in California get paid for each kid. They want the bodies in class.
Class size would probably not get smaller as teachers would be laid off and
schools might have to close.
Screw the parents, I want educated kids turned out so they can make money
and support me in my old age with their tax dollar and invent ways to keep
me alive longer.

They'll pray to live longer, while fighting medical researchers tooth
and nail. When we finally get a cure for old age, they'll be the first
to stand in line. Just like they did with anaesthesia.
And then they'll claim that it's a miracle of God.

Considering that most of my adoptive family are *spit* baptist, I was
expecting a quote like:
"We're tarred of y'all makin' are kids reed! An we ain't gonna take it no
more!"

Hmmm.....I was raised southern baptist - the church we went to tended
to be populated with fairly well educated, middle-class people. Just
because they're insane/braindead, doesn't mean they speak like the
beverly hillbillies.

More power to 'em. (Not being sarcastic here.)
I seem to recall that the US Catholic parochial school system
developed because Catholic immigrants didn't want their kids
to be taught to be good little Protestants like the real
Americans were. I think that was a good thing, yes, even
in spite of the horrible abuses that sometimes occurred.
That's a separate issue.
So the Baptists don't want their kids to be taught to be
secular humanists, or whatever. I think they're wrong, but
those aren't my kids, so, more power to 'em.

They're not taught to be secular humanists. Superstition doesn't (isn't
supposed to) come into play in school whether it be Catholic,
Protestant, Islamic, or any other.

Don't get your hopes up. Last time the SBC tried a boycott, the company
being boycotted had to be told there was a boycott. Else, they wouldn't
have known...
