Object: Baron d'Holbach, rational atheist.
"People have suffered and become insane for centuries by the thought of
eternal punishment after death. Wouldn't it be better to depend on blind
matter (...) than by a god who puts out traps for people, invites them to
sin, and allows them to sin and commit crimes he could prevent. Only to
finally get the barbarian pleasure to punish them in an excessive way, of
no use for himself, without them changing their ways and without their
example preventing others from committing crimes."

The Baron dies in 1789, which gives the lie to the fundy claim that
atheism is a modern phenomenon.

i was arguing against a fundy that was throwing ***** against gays. I
told him, that this god, if there were any, must have been a s.o.b. for
he made made men with the capacity of feeling pleasure in taking it up
their asses. So, why not blame the "inteligent" designer, instead of
the poor gay? If any inteligent god feel abhorrence of gay's
sexuality, why it make them capable of feeling that pleasure? It is
utter nonsense.
I think all this religious prohibitions come from the need the had to
offer "human sacrificies" in the altar of their temples. They are all
a bunch of criminal butchers.

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet (leopoldo.perdomo@gmail.com)
made the light shine upon us with this:

i was arguing against a fundy that was throwing ***** against gays. I
told him, that this god, if there were any, must have been a s.o.b. for
he made made men with the capacity of feeling pleasure in taking it up
their asses. So, why not blame the "inteligent" designer, instead of

They try to knock you off with "Well, God gave us free will", not bothering
to think beyond the period at the end of that statement.

I think all this religious prohibitions come from the need the had to
offer "human sacrificies" in the altar of their temples. They are all
a bunch of criminal butchers.

Well, yeah.
